St. Cloud, MN--- The St. Cloud State Huskies (6-15-1, 3-11-1 WCHA) were defeated 3-1 in Friday afternoons contest against the Ohio State Buckeyes (13-8-2, 8-7-2 WCHA).
The Buckeyes opened up scoring when St. Cloud senior, Amanda Arbogast, was sent to the box for roughing. The powerplay goal came just 6:20 into the game when Ohio State put one past senior goaltender, Julie Friend.
As the second period unfolded, SCSU's Alyssa Erickson scored her first collegiate goal after being sent on a breakaway, to send the game into a 1-1 tie. Assists were awarded to sophomores Payge Pena and Christa Moody. Ohio State responded with just under two minutes in the period, taking the lead 2-1 heading into the third period. Â
The one goal difference remained until the Huskies pulled Julie Friend with 1:18 left to play. The Buckeyes scored an empty net goal to end the game 3-1.
SCSU's Julie Friend made 25 saves on OSU's 27 shot attempts. Her record moves to 4-9-0, 2-6-0 WCHA.
