
Huskies Fall Short Against the Bemidji State Beavers

Bemidji, Minn. --- The St. Cloud State Huskies (2-7-1, 0-7-1 WCHA) lost two close games in a weekend series against #6 Bemidji Beavers (8-2-2, 5-2-1 WCHA) on Oct. 30-31.
Bemidji were first on the board when they found the back of the net late in the first period with a goal by Emily Bergland.
The Huskies battled back in the second when senior forward, Molly Illikainen, scored her second short-handed goal of the season just 2:14 into the second period. Christa Moody tallied her third assist on the goal.
The score remained tied until 2:45 in the third when Bemidji pulled ahead 2-1. St. Cloud was sent on the penalty kill when Lexi Slattery took a seat for hooking. Just under a minute into the power play the Beavers put their third and final goal past SCSU's Katie Fitzgerald.
The Huskies challenged BSU goaltender with 21 shots on net while SCSU's, Fitzgerald faced 28 shots in the game.
The Huskies recorded 21 straight penalty kills before tonights power play goal by Bemidji.
St. Cloud will enjoy an off weekend while Suvi Ollikainen heads to the 2015 Four Nations Cup, which is taking place on Nov. 4-8 in Sundsvall, Sweden.
They will return to WCHA play on Nov. 9-10 to face Minnesota State Mankato.
