#7 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey to host #4 Fighting Hawks

The #7 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (8-2-0, 4-0-0 NCHC) will return home to the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center (5,159 cap./200x100) in St. Cloud, Minn. for a two-game series against #4 University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks (9-1-2, 4-0-0 NCHC) on Friday, Nov. 20 (7:37 p.m. start) and Saturday, Nov. 21 (7:07 p.m. start).

HUSKIES HEADLINES:
POLL POSITION: SCSU was ranked #7 in the USCHO.com and 7th in the USA Today/USA Hockey DI national polls this week. North Dakota was ranked number four in both of the national polls this week.
WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE: SCSU and the St. Cloud Area United Way are teamming up for a Winter Clothing Drive on Nov. 21. Fans are encouraged to bring winter clothing items (hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, coats, boots, etc.) to the game on Saturday, Nov. 21 for donation. Collection boxes will be set up in the lobby of the HBNHC that evening and all winter clothing items collected will be donated to local charities who help the homeless and those in need.
WHITE OUT ON NOV. 21: All SCSU fans are encouraged to wear white to the game vs. UND on Nov. 21 as they cheer on their Huskies!
NORTH STAR CUP: Fans can purchase all-session tickets for the 2016 North Star Cup at the Xcel Energy Center on Jan. 30-31 through the SCSU Athletic Ticket Office. These all-session ticket packages must be purchased by Nov. 22. Fans can get complete information on the ticket packages by visiting www.scsutickets.com or by calling 1-877-SCSUTIX. SCSU will open the North Star Cup on Jan. 30 with a 1 p.m. game against Minnesota State. Minnesota and Bemidji State will face off in the other first round game that day at 4 p.m. The second round of games will take place on Jan. 31 at the Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul.
WATCH THE HUSKIES: The SCSU-UND game on Friday, Nov. 20 will be televised live on Fox Sports North Plus (Direct TV 668-1/Dish 445/Charter 227/827). The game on Saturday, Nov. 21, will be televised live on the SCSU Sports Network and also on Midco Cable. The SCSU Sports Network is available on Charter 426/823, Comcast 999, while Midco viewers can watch on channel 622. NCAA #1 STAR: Senior Joey Benik earned NCHC Player of the Week and NCAA number one star of the week notice thanks to his five goals and one assist in the weekend at WMU. Benik had four goals in the 11-1 victory, which marked his first SCSU hat trick and also the most goals for a SCSU player since Mark Hartigan tallied four goals in a win against Alaska Anchorage in 2001-02.
BIG WINS AT WMU: The victories over WMU moved SCSU's record to 8-2-0, 4-0-0 NCHC. This marked the fourth weekend sweep of the season for the Huskies, who own a 4-0-0 record at home and a 4-2-0 record on the road this season. SCSU posted a 5-2 win at WMU on Nov. 13 and an 11-1 win on Nov. 14.
LEADING THE WAY: Senior Kalle Kossila and sophomore Patrick Russell lead the Huskies this season with 12 points apiece. Kossila currently ranks sixth in the nation with 10 assists. Kossila posted four assists for the Huskies int the pair of games at WMU. Russell has six goals and six assists for SCSU this winter.
PP POWERHOUSE: Joey Benik leads SCSU with seven goals this season, which also includes a team-leading four power play goals. Benik had two power play goals this weekend, which marked the first time since the Alaska Anchorage game that the Huskies charted a power play goal. SCSU hit a season-high with their four power play goals against WMU on Nov. 14. Benik currently ranks second in the nation with his four PPGs this season.
BACK IN THE LINEUP: Senior captain Ethan Prow returned to the lineup last weekend after missing four games as an injury scratch. He made a quick impact with three assists in the 5-2 win on Nov. 13 and one goal and one assist on Nov. 14. For his efforts, Prow was named the NCHC Defensive Player of the Week. He helped the Huskies outscore the Broncos 16-3 in the two-game series.
STOPPING POWER: Junior netminder Charlie Lindgren improved to 7-2-0 on the season with the wins at WMU. He currently ranks sixth in the nation with a 1.49 GAA and seventh with a .944 save percentage in 2015-16. He also ranks second in the nation with four shutouts to his credit this winter.
MULTI MULTI-POINTS: A total of eight SCSU skaters charted multi-point performances in the 11-1 win on Nov. 14. Aside from Benik's five-point flurry, David Morley had four points (1g/3a), Patrick Russell had three points (2g/1a) and Judd Peterson had three assists.
NCAA RANK: SCSU made a big jump this week in the NCAA offense ranking. SCSU is now ranked sixth in the nation on scoring offense at 4.10 goals per game. On defense, SCSU ranks third in the nation with a goals allowed rate of 1.50 per game.
ABOUT UND: In the all-time series, North Dakota owns a 65-38-12 series record against the Huskies. The series opened back on Jan. 6, 1947 with an 8-1 victory by the Huskies in Grand Forks, N.D...Last year, the Huskies end their season with a 4-1 loss to UND at the NCAA West Regional in Fargo, N.D. The Huskies and UND played six times in 2014-15, with UND owning the upper hand with a 4-2-0 record. At the HBNHC, SCSU posted a 3-1 win on Nov. 21, 2014 and a 3-2 loss on Nov. 22, 2014. At Grand Forks on Feb. 27-28, 2015, SCSU lost by scores of 3-2 and 3-1 before earning a 3-1 victory in the semi's of the NCHC Frozen Faceoff at Target Center on March 20, 2015. ...UND is ranked #4 in the latest NCAA Division I polls... SCSU is 5-5-0 against UND in the last 10 outings of this series and the Huskies are 1-4-0 in the last five outings of this season...Joey Benik has 5g/6a in 14 games played against UND during his career...Drake Caggiula (4g/9a) and Nick Schmaltz (2g/11a) lead UND in scoring with 13 points apiece...Matt Hrynklw (.920 SV% and 1.81 GAA) and Cam Johnson (.907% and 1.82 GAA) have shared goaltending duties this season for UND...North Dakota's new team nickname is the Fighting Hawks.
RANDOM NOTES: Judd Peterson currently ranks second on the team with six goals in 2015-16. His goal totals are unique since they feature three empty net goals this season and two shorthanded goals...Peterson had the first of SCSU's two empty net goals on Nov. 13. Kalle Kossila and Will Borgen both bring four-game point scoring streaks into SCSU's match up against North Dakota on Nov. 20-21 at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center... Long-time rivals, SCSU and North Dakota opened their storied series on Jan. 6, 1947 with an 8-1 win by the Huskies in Grand Forks, N.D. Since that game, SCSU owns a 38-65-12 series record against UND...SCSU is 4-2-0 in action against top 20 ranked team this season...SCSU is 4-0-0 when it scores on the power play this season...SCSU has outscored its opponents 41-15 this season and the Huskies have only allowed four power play goals this season, with two of those PPGs coming against WMU on Nov. 13.
