Huskies win 6th consecutive contest with 3-2 victory at Lindenwood

The St. Cloud State University women's hockey team (8-7-1 overall) crafted a 3-2 victory at Lindenwood University (3-11-2 overall) in non-conference play on Sunday, Nov. 29 in Wentzville, Mo.
The victory extended the Huskies' winning streak to six consecutive games and they will put that streak to the test next weekend with a pair of WCHA games at Minnesota Duluth on Dec. 4-5.
In the contest at Lindenwood, Molly Illikainen scored a pair of goals to pace SCSU on offense. In the first period, the Huskies broke into the scoring column with a marker by Brittany Anderson at 3:39 as assists were provided by Illikainen and Christa Moody (her sixth helper of the year). Tirra Lemoine tied the game for Lindenwood with her goal at 5:00 of the first period.
In the second period, SCSU gained a 2-1 lead with Illikainen's first goal of the day at the :53 mark of the period. The goal was unassisted. In the final period of play, Lindenwood rallied to tie the game at 2-2 with a goal by Shannon Morris-Reade at 3:07 of the third.
The game was then decided with the game winning goal by Illikainen at 10:54 of the third period. Julia Tylke and Alyssa Erickson each had assists on the play for the Huskies. This was Illikainen's 12th goal of the season and her 21st point of the year. Tylke now has seven assists and Erickson has six assists this year.
On the day, SCSU outshot Lindenwood 27-26 in the game. Katie Fitzgerald was the goalie of record for SCSU with 24 saves to her credit. Nicole Hensley had 24 saves in goal for Lindenwood. On the power play, SCSU was 0-3 and Lindenwood was 0-1.
