The University of North Dakota Push Past the St. Cloud State Huskies

St. Cloud, Minn. --- After shutting out the top ranked Gophers last weekend, the University of North Dakota (17-11-3, 13-10-3 WCHA) brought their momentum into the Herb Brooks Center against the St. Cloud State Huskies (6-24-1, 3-18-1 WCHA), shutting them out 4-0.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first period, leaving the game scoreless going into first intermission. St. Cloud State gave up two power-play goals to UND in the second period, giving them energy heading into the final period of the game.
North Dakota put the only even strength goal past Huskies goaltender, Katie Fitzgerald, just over halfway through the third. As UND took the last penalty of the game, SCSU pulled Fitzgerald to give them a two man advantage with just over two minutes to play. UND found open ice and took it to the goalie less net, pushing their 3-0 lead to a 4-0 final.
Fitzgerald was busy in net as she faced 34 shots by North Dakota.
The series continues Feb. 14 at 3:07 pm.
