Madison, Wis. --- The St. Cloud State Women's Hockey (2-28-1, 5-23-1 WCHA) season comes to an end after losing two games in a best of three series to the Wisconsin Badgers (26-6-4, 20-6-3 WCHA) on Saturday Feb. 28.Â
The Badgers took an early lead as they put two goals past Julie Friend in the first period.Â
The two goal Badger lead held strong until just minutes into the third when they found the back of the net for the third time in the game. Season point leader, Molly Illikainen, responded for the Huskies scoring her tenth goal of the season. Assists were awarded to sophomores, Lauren Hespenheide and Payge Pena. Wisconsin didn't wait to extend their two goal lead after the Huskies put one on the board and ended the game with a 4-1 final.Â
Julie Friend played her final game in net for the St. Cloud State Huskies. Her senior season rounds out with 3.50 goals against average, .904 save percentage and total shots faced this year.Â
