The #5 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (17-5-0, 9-3-0 NCHC) will play a weekend series on the road at the #17 University of Minnesota Duluth (8-7-4, 5-5-2 NCHC). The games on Jan. 15 and Jan. 16 will both start at 7:07 p.m. at UMD's Amsoil Arena in Duluth, Minn. Â

COUNT ON KALLE: SCSU's Kalle Kossila leads the Huskies with 26 points this season and he is tied with Ethan Prow with 18 assists in 2015-16. In Kossila now ranks 12th in the team records with 125 career points. He is just four points behind Brandon Sampair, who had 129 points from 1998-01. Kossila also has 83 career assists, which ranks 10th in the team records behind Ryan Malone, who had 84 assists from 1999-03. Malone played in the NHL for Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and New York Rangers...FYI, Brandon Sampair's cousin Charlie Sampair plays forward for the UMD Bulldogs this season.
LINDGREN IS A LEADER: Charlie Lindgren ranks second in the NCAA with 16 wins as a goaltender in 2015-16. He currently owns a 16-5-0 record this winter with a .926 save rate and a 2.00 GAA. In his career at SCSU, Lindgren now ranks sixth in the team records with 37 wins (37-25-2) - a mark he holds with Bobby Goepfert (2005-07), Mike O'Hara (1988-92) and Jase Wesloskey (2006-09)... Lindgren has also notched a total of 1,582 saves as a Husky, which places him 10th on the career save charts behind Dean Weasler, who had 1,839 saves from 1998-02.
PROW POINTS: SCSU senior defender Ethan Prow now has 83 career points during his career at SCSU, which includes 15 goals and 68 assists. He is now tied for sixth among SCSU defenders for career points along with current SCSU assistant coach Garrett Raboin, who had 83 points from 2006-10. Prow leads all NCAA DI defenseman with 18 assists and 22 points. He ranks second among DI blueliners with a 1.22 ppg average this season. Prow is a resident of nearby Sauk Rapids, Minn.
STREAK SNAPPED: The Huskies' 5-2 loss on Jan. 9 snapped an 8-game unbeaten streak for the Huskies against Colorado College. The last loss for the Huskies against CC was a 4-3 setback on Feb. 22, 2013. The last time SCSU lost a game at home against CC was a 5-2 loss on Dec. 11, 2010... The Huskies currently own a 17-5-0, 9-3-0 NCHC record. Over the weekend, SCSU scored a 2-1 win over visiting Colorado College on Jan. 8 and ended the weekend with a 5-2 setback against the Tigers. Mikey Eyssimont had one goal and one assist in the win over CC, while SCSU David Morley and Jimmy Schuldt each had goals in the loss on Jan. 9.Â
AMONG THE BEST:  SCSU ranks third in the nation with a 4.27 goals per game scoring average. SCSU ranks eighth in the nation with a 2.05 goals allowed per game average. The Huskies rank third in the nation with a power play rate of 28.4 (23/81) in 2015-16.
YOUR MORLEY MINUTE: Senior forward David Morley ranks second on the team this year with 24 points (9g/15a). In his career, Morley has 46g/59a and 105 points. He ranks 25th in the all-time SCSU scoring charts behind Kelly Hultgren, who had 107 points from 1991-95.
HUSKIES VS. BULLDOGS: SCSU will play games at UMD on Jan. 15-16. The Huskies own a 61-43-8 series record against the Bulldogs, which dates back to the series opener in 1946-47 (an 8-1 win for the Huskies). SCSU is 2-3-0 in the last five outings against UMD and last year the Huskies scored a 4-2 loss (Feb. 13, 2015) and a 4-1 win (Feb. 14, 2015) in Duluth. In the last 10 games played in the series, SCSU owns a 6-4-0 series lead.
FIRST GAME:  SCSU freshman Clark Kuster, a defenseman from St. Louis, Mo., played in his first game as a Husky on Jan. 9. An injury scratch for the first half of the season, Kuster played junior hockey with the Cedar Rapids Roughriders.
GOAL LEADER BACK HOME:  Judd Peterson and Joey Benik each lead the Huskies this winter with 12 goals apiece. Peterson will enjoy a homecoming this weekend with the games at Minnesota Duluth since he is a native of Duluth, Minn. and a grad of Marshall H.S.
CLOSING IN: Joey Benik needs two points this weekend to join SCSU's 100-point club. He currently has 48 goals and 50 assists during his tenure with the Huskies for a total of 98 points. In 2015-16, Benik has posted 12 goals and eight assists for 20 points.
GAME WINNER: Patrick Russell hit is fifth game winning goal of the 2015-16 season on Jan. 8. He is tied for the team lead in that category this season along with Joey Benik. The pair are also tied for the team's season record for most GWG's in a season at five apiece. Both Benik and Russell ranks second in the nation this season for most GWGs scored in 2015-16.
