#10 SCSU Men's Hockey to host Alabama Huntsville on Oct. 28-29

The #10 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (2-2-0, 0-0-0 NCHC) will continue its 2016-17 season on Oct. 28-29 with a two-game series at home against the University of Alabama at Huntsville Chargers (2-5-1, 2-3-1 WCHA). Both games will be played at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. The game on Oct. 28 will begin at 7:37 p.m. and the game on Oct. 29 will begin at 7:07 p.m. Tickets are available for the games in St. Cloud. Just visit www.scsutickets.com for all your ticket needs.

TRICK OR TREAT: Young fans who wear their Halloween costume to the SCSU-UAH game on Oct. 29 will receive $5 off the price of their youth admission ticket on that night.

TAKE TWO: The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team completed a weekend sweep of #7 Minnesota with a 6-5 victory at Mariucci Arena on Oct. 21 and a 3-2 win at home on Oct. 22... the Huskies overcame a three goal deficit in the third period to win the game by a 6-5 tally in OT on Oct. 21. The last time SCSU came back from a three-goal deficit to win a game was on Nov. 30, 2012 at Alaska Anchorage, when SCSU posted a 4-3 win in OT... The Huskies currently own a four-game winning streak against the Gophers and have not lost a game against Minnesota since a 4-3 OT loss on Nov. 1, 2014... the last time SCSU collected a win in overtime was a 4-3 victory in the NCHC playoff against Western Michigan on March 11, 2016.
THREE PETE: Judd Peterson, a junior from Duluth, carded his first hat trick during the 6-5 win over Oct. 21. Peterson leads the club this season with four goals and five points. This marks the first time since Dec. 12, 2015 that a SCSU player scored a hat trick. Kalle Kossila had three goals at Denver on Dec. 12, 2015. Peterson now has 24 career goals.
FIRST ONE: Freshman goalie Zach Driscoll earned his first two college victories against Minnesota. Driscoll had 29 saves in the complete game win over UM on Oct. 22 and also had two saves in the "relief" win over Minnesota on Oct. 21. He played 19:18 minutes in relief of starter Jeff Smith to gain the 6-5 win in OT.
THE ROOKIES: Rookie Jack Poehling scored his first collegiate goal in SCSU's 3-2 win over Minnesota on Oct. 22. He was assisted on the play by junior Ryan Papa and freshman Ryan Poehling, who is his younger brother. The assist for Ryan Poehling was his first collegiate point... Freshmen defenders Jack Ahcan and Dennis Cholowski both posted their first assists on Oct. 21 on Jake Wahlin's game winner in OT. The goal was Wahlin's first game winner at SCSU. Ahcan and Cholowski also had assists on Oct. 22.
NEWELL NEWS: Sophomore forward Patrick Newell hit a game career-high with his three assists during the Huskies' 6-5 win at Minnesota on Oct. 21. In his career, Newell now has 18 assists and 25 points.
CHARTING THE CHARGERS: SCSU owns an 11-0-0 all-time series record against UAH, which dates back to Feb. 6, 1988... The last time SCSU played the Chargers, the Huskies posted a 10-0, 4-3 series sweep on Nov. 15-16, 2013 in Huntsville. The last time SCSU hosted the Chargers, the Huskies gained an 8-3 and 4-0 series sweep on Oct. 19-20, 2012 at the HBNHC...SCSU is averaging 3.50 goals per game this season and UAH is averaging 1.88 goals per game this year...UAH opened the year with a 2-1 and 4-2 sweep at Ferris State.Since those two wins, UAH is 0-5-1, which includes loses to Connecticut, Michigan Tech and Lake Superior State.
NEWS AND NOTES FROM SCSU: Judd Peterson ranks fifth in the nation with 1.00 goals per game this season...SCSU leads the nation for the fewest penalty minutes per game this season at 6.0 PIM per game in 2016-17...SCSU ranks third in the nation on the power play at 28.6% (4-of-14), while Western Michigan leads the nation with a 30.8% rate this year...Peterson will play in his 80th career game on Oct. 28...Niklas Nevalainen leads SCSU active players with 34 career assists, while Mikey Eyssimont has 16g/20a in his two seasons at SCSU.
THE NCHC RACE BEGINS NEXT WEEK: The Huskies will continue their homestand on Nov. 4-5 with a pair of dates at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center against NCHC rival Minnesota Duluth. The Nov. 4 game will start at 7:37 p.m. and the Nov. 5 game will start at 7:07 p.m. These games will mark the start of the NCHC season for the Huskies.
