St. Cloud Women's Hockey travel to North Dakota to take on the Fighting Hawks

St. Cloud will travel to Grand Forks North Dakota to face the Fighting Hawks in their second last conference series of the season. UND's record is 14-9-5, 11-8-5 WCHA and have three players with over 20 points this season. In the last series against North Dakota the Huskies split with a 3-0 loss in game one and a shoot-out win in game two. This was the first time since 2010 that the Huskies gained a win over the Hawks.
Julia TylkeBrittney Anderson, a defensemen from Hudson, Wis. has stepped into and offensive role in her sophomore season. The powerhouse D recorded four points in her inaugural season with the Huskies and so far this season has three goals and 14 assists for 17 total points.
Lexi Slattery has played an important role with SCSU in her final season. She is the second scoring defensemen, following Anderson, and has tallied three goals and 11 assists for 15 total points. Her assists have come in handy this season, as she has tallied four of her 11 assists on game winning goals.
Molly Illikainen is 14th in the WCHA in scoring with 15 goals, 13 assists for 28 points this season. In the Huskies' six-game winning streak she scored eight goals and five assists. After being held without a goal in the first six games, she found the chemistry with her line mates and recorded 12 goals and 18 points in 10 straight games. Illikainen is sitting at 95 career points with two conference series to play in her senior year, which is a number that has not been matched for the Huskies since the 2009-10 season.
In her first season with St. Cloud, Julia Tylke has been a tremendous asset to the team. She has contributed offensively in 10 of 11 wins this season, having multiple points in 6 games. She follows Illikainen in points having eight goals and 11 assists for 19 total points.Â
Senior goaltender, Katie Fitzgerald, has been the backbone of the Huskies all season long. In the Jan 30-31 series against Wisconsin the seasoned vet faced 92 shots and only allowed 5 goals all weekend. She has made 805 saves on 888 shots this year and has a .907 save percentage with a 2.97 GAA. She has played in all WCHA games for the Huskies and has a record of 10-14-4.
The Huskies penalty kill has become a strong point of their game this season being 60 for 80 on the season and .750. In conference play alone they have killed 52 for 65 and are .800.
In Coach Rud's second season as head coach he has transformed the team into competitors in the WCHA. The Huskies have won 11 games this season, which breaks a five-year lull in double digit wins. The last time the Huskies won over 10 games was back in the 2009-10 where they finished with a season total of 15 wins.Â
