#3 St. Cloud State men's hockey at #11/12 Omaha on Feb. 19-20

The #3 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (23-6-1, 13-4-1 NCHC) will play a pair of games against the #11/12 Omaha Mavericks at Baxter Arena in Omaha on Feb. 19-20. The first game of the series on Feb. 19 will begin at 7:07 p.m. (CT) and the second game of the series at Omaha will begin at 7:07 p.m. (CT). These game are both NCHC games. These games also marks SCSU's first trip to the new Baxter Arena in Omaha.

NEW NHLer: Former St. Cloud State University men's hockey player Kevin Gravel made his NHL debut with the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday, Feb. 11 in a game at the New York Islanders. Gravel had one block to his credit in the game, which the Kings lost 5-2 against the Islanders. Gravel was called up to the NHL club after playing earlier this season with the Ontario Reign of the AHL. A four-year standout with the Huskies at defense, Gravel played with the Huskies from 2010-14. He is the 25th player in the history of SCSU hockey to see ice time in an NHL contest. The other active NHL players in 2015-16, who played college hockey at SCSU, include Matt Cullen (Pittsburgh) and Matt Hendricks (Edmonton).
OFF WEEK: The Huskies enjoyed a bye week on Feb. 12-13. This marks the final bye week of the 2015-16 season for the Huskies. SCSU charted a pair of weekend sweeps after returning to the ice after a bye week (sweep at WMU on Nov. 13-14 and sweep vs. ASU on Jan. 1-2).

LAST TIME OUT: SCSU improved to 23-6-1, 13-4-1 NCHC with a weekend split at Miami on Feb. 5-6. SCSU opened the weekend with a 5-1 victory and then lost a close 3-2 match on Feb. 6 in Oxford, Ohio... The SCSU loss on Feb. 6 at Miami snapped a seven-game unbeaten streak for the Huskies. This was the longest unbeaten streak of the season for the Huskies.
AWARD WINNER: Junior Charlie Lindgren, a resident of Lakeville, Minn., was named the NCHC Goaltender of the Week for Feb. 1-7. He made 61 saves in the two games at Miami and allowed just four goals over the weekend. On the season, Lindgren leads the nation with 22 victories in the nets... Mike Richter Award candidate Charlie Lindgren owns a 2.03 GAA this season with a .928 save rate and a 22-6-1 record. He leads the nation in goalie wins and ranks fourth in the nation with five shutouts to his credit this season. Lindgren's 43 career victories ranks fourth in the team records behind third ranked Scott Meyer, who had 47 career wins from 1996-01. Brian Leitza is the team's all-time leader with 66 wins.
PROW POINTS Hobey Baker Award candidate Ethan Prow scored his 90th career point in the two game set at Miami. He tallied the game's first goal on Feb. 5 and added an assist on Feb. 6. Prow is just the third defenseman in SCSU history to score 90 or more points in a career... Prow currently has 17 goals and 73 assists in his career. He ranks third in the team records for most assists by a defenseman. I 2015-16, Prow has netted six goals and 23 assists. Of note, the team record for most assists by a defenseman in a season is 30 by Bret Hedican in 1990-91...Prow ranks 8th in the nation for most assists at 0.88 assists per game in 2015-16. Kossila ranks 9th in the nation with 0.87 assists per game.
KOSSILA CLIMBS CHARTS: Senior forward Kalle Kossila continues to lead the Huskies with 37 points and 26 assists this season. He now has 45 goals, 91 assists and 136 points in four seasons with the Huskies. Kossila ranks ninth in the team records for most career points along with Nate DiCasmirro (1998-02) and Tyler Arnason (1998-01). His 91 career assists rank sixth in the team records, while Tim Hanus ranks fifth on the assist list with 99 helpers from 1988-92...Kossila ranks 15th among NCAA players with a scoring rate of 1.23 ppg this season.
BENIK BENEFITS: Senior forward Joey Benik has enjoyed a stellar year and currently leads the Huskies on the plus/minus at +27. Benik also leadds the Huskies with 17 goals and is second with 34 points this year. In his career, Benik is one of three active 100-point club members at 112 points (53g/59a) in 126 career games played. Benik also paces SCSU this winter with 110 shots on goal... The Huskies' other active 100-point club member is David Morley, who has 114 career points (48g/66a). In 2015-16, Morley has 11g/22a.
20-WINS: SCSU has won 20-plus games in a season seven times during coach Bob Motzko's tenure at St. Cloud State. The Huskies have also earned six NCAA tournament during Motzko's career at SCSU (since the 2005-06 season)…this includes bids in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
