St. Cloud State women's hockey travel to UND for first round playoffs

The Huskies head back to North Dakota where they split with the Fighting Hawks two weeks ago to play in their first round of playoffs. Game times for the Friday-Sunday three game series have been set for 2:37 P.M. each day. Sunday's game will only be played if necessary.
Julia TylkeThe St. Cloud Women's hockey team end their regular season with a series split at home against the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs. The win on Friday night cemented the Huskies a fifth place finish in the WCHA with 34 points while the Bulldogs finished in sixth place with 31 points.Â
Molly Illikainen led the Huskies in her senior stint with 17 goals and 14 assist for 31 total points in the regular season. After getting two points in the series against the Bulldogs, Illikainen is only 2 points away from a career total of 100 points, a number that hasn't been reached by a player since the 2009-2010 season.Â
Freshman forward, Julia Tylke was a huge assets the Huskies offense in her first college season. The young forward played in 32 games and tallied 9 goals and 14 assists for 23 points. She is second on the team in points and has scored 3 game winning goals this year.Â
Brittney Anderson and Lexi Slattery led the Huskies on the blue line. The dynamic duo are 4th and 5th on the team in points and have a combined 7 goals and 28 assists in 33 games apiece. Slattery is responsible for one game winning goal and two power play goals this season.Â
Senior goaltender, Katie Fitzgerald, has been the backbone of the Huskies all year long. She has appeared in every WCHA game this season and has a record of 12-16-4. She has made 925 saves on 1016 shots in her final year between the pipes and has a save percentage of .910 and GAA of 2.86. Her season high of 46 saves came on Jan. 30 in the 3-0 loss against Wisconsin.Â
SCSU finishes conference play with 4 players being awarded WCHA honors 8 times. Julia Tylke won WCHA rookie of the week three times, while Molly Illikainen gained WCHA offensive player of the week twice. Lexi Slattery nabbed WCHA defensive player of the week once while Katie Fitzgerald got two time recognition as well as being named WCHA player of the month in November after being in net for 6 straight wins.Â
