The #3 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (22-5-1, 12-3-1 NCHC) will play a pair of games against the Miami University Redhawks at the Goggins Ice Center in Oxford, Ohio on Feb. 5-6. The first game of the series on Feb. 5 will begin at 6:35 p.m. (CT) and the second game of the series at Miami will begin at 6:05 p.m. (CT). These game are both NCHC games.

TROPHY TIME:  The Huskies won their first North Star Cup championship with a pair of victories on Jan. 30-31 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. SCSU won their first game in tournament play on Jan. 30 with a 5-4 win over WCHA rival Minnesota State. The Huskies capped the weekend with a 5-2 victory over Bemidji State in the title bout on Jan. 31...this marks the second tournament title that SCSU has claimed this winter. The Huskies opened the year with a first place finish at the Kendall Hockey Classic in Anchorage on Oct. 9-10.
AWARD WEEK:  SCSU's Mikey Eyssimont was named the NCHC Offensive Player of the Week and the NCAA #2 Star of the Week on Feb. 2, after his three goal/two assist weekend at the North Star Cup on Jan. 30-31. Eyssimont was also named the NCHC Rookie of the Month for January and Joey Benik was named the league's offensive player of the month for January...finally, SCSU's Jimmy Murray's goal on Jan. 30 was picked as an NCAA Play of the Week on Feb. 2.

WINNER, WINNER: St. Cloud State sophomore forward Patrick Russell set a new team record by scoring his sixth game winning goal of the season during SCSU's 5-2 victory over BSU on Jan. 31. Russell now ranks second in the nation with six GWGs and the old team record of five GWGs was hit by several Huskies over the years - including teammate Joey Benik with five in 2015-16... SCSU is 10-0-0 this season when Patrick Russell scores a goal.
22 AND COUNTING:   The Huskies won their 22nd game of the season on Jan. 31, and they are won of just two teams in the nation to have won 22 games this season...SCSU ranks first in the country with 123 goals and the Huskies rank second in the nation with a scoring rate of 4.39 points per game. SCSU's current record for best goals per game average in a season is 4.26 gpg set in 2001-02.
TEAM LEADERS: Kalle Kossila leads the team with 24 assists and 35 points. His career season-high of 40 points was set in 2013-14. In his career, Kossila now has 45 goals, 89 assists and 134 points. The other members of SCSU's 100-point club who are active play

6-GAME STREAK:  The Huskies own a six-game unbeaten streak dating back to a 5-2 loss to Colorado College on Jan. 9. SCSU has outscored its opponents 29-13 during those six games. Joey Benik has scored at least one point in each of SCSU's last six games.
POINT PRODUCTION: SCSU ranks first in the country with 123 goals and the Huskies rank second in the nation with a scoring rate of 4.39 points per game. SCSU's current record for best goals per game average in a season is 4.26 gpg set in 2001-02...On the topic of records, SCSU's current season record for best power play rate is .311 (73-235) set in 2001-02. In 2015-16, the Huskies rank second in the NCAA with a power play rate of .317 (33-104)... The Huskies are the fourth least penalized team in the nation this season. SCSU is averaging just 7.2 penalty minutes per game this season...SCSU ranks seventh in the nation with a defensive average of 2.07 goals allowed per game. Of note, SCSU has outscored its opponents 123-58 this season.
MOST WINS:  SCSU junior netminder Charlie Lindgren leads the nation with 21 victories in goal for the Huskies. He is 21-5-1 this season and ranks fourth in the country with five shutouts.
PROW NOTES:  Senior Ethan Prow leads all NCAA Division I defensemen with 22 assists and 27 points. He also ranks seventh among all DI players with 0.92 assists per game this year. Teammate Kalle Kossila ranks eighth in the country with 0.86 assists per game...Prow now ranks third in the SCSU records for points by a defenseman with 88 (16g/72a) in four years. He is just behind Andrew Prochno, who had 91 points from 2011-15 and Kelly Hultgren with 107 points from 1991-95. LAST WEEKEND:  The Huskies will play a pair of games at Miami on Feb. 5-6. Earlier this season, the Huskies scored a 3-0, 3-1 series sweep against the RedHawks at the HBNCH on Oct. 30-31, 2015...SCSU is 9-11-2 in games played against Miami since the series started in 1987-88. SCSU is 4-1-0 in the last five games of the series and 7-3-0 in the last 10 games of the series...The last time SCSU played at Miami, the Huskies lost a 4-3 decision on Feb. 21, 2014 and then won a 3-0 game on Feb. 22, 2014...of note, SCSU lost a 3-2 game against Miami at the 2015 NCHC Frozen Faceoff title game at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
