Historic first games against Boston College at the HBNHC
The #2/3 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (3-0-0, 0-0-0 NCHC) will welcome perennial college hockey power #13 Boston College (1-1-1, 0-0-0 HE) to the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center (cap. 5,371/200x100) for the first time in team history on Friday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 21. The game on Oct. 20 will begin at 7:37 p.m. and the Oct. 21 puck drop is slated for 7:07 p.m. Great tickets are still available for both games and you can purchase them at scsutickets.com or by calling 1-877-SCSUTIX.
COURT OF HONOR:Jimmy Schuldt leads the nation's scorers with seven points and ranks second in the country with four goals scored. He had 2g/1a in the Huskies' 6-3 win over UAF on Oct. 13 and 1g/1a in the win on Oct. 14. He received NCHC Defensive Player ofthe Week honors for the second consecutive week and was also named as one of the NCAA Three Stars of the Week on Oct. 17. Jimmy Schuldt has played in 80 consecutive games as a Husky.
SKATE WITH THE HUSKIES: The always popular Skate with the Huskies has been set for Sunday, Oct. 22 from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud. Fans will have the opportunity to skate on the ice at the HBNHC along with members of the SCSU men's and women's hockey teams. Players will be available for photos and autographs. Nick PoehlingIN THE POLLS: The Huskies received a #2 ranking in the 2017-18 USA TODAY/USA Hockey Division I poll on Oct. 16 SCSU also gained a #3 ranking in the USCHO.com poll this week. Boston College comes into town with a #13 ranking in the USCHO.com poll and #15 in the USA TODAY/USA Today poll. St. Cloud State was picked as the #2 team in the 2017-18 preseason NCHC poll. Of note, the Huskies received votes in the final USCHO.com poll of 2016-17.

LONG HOMESTAND: After a bye week on Oct. 27-28, the Huskies will be back home for their fifth and sixth consecutive home dates on Nov. 3-4 against up north rival Minnesota Duluth. These games will mark the start of the 2017-18 NCHC campaign for the Huskies. POINT MEN: Blueliners Clark Kuster and Luke Jaycox scored their first collegiate points during the Huskies' 5-4 win over UAF. They provided assists on Jacob Benson's goal in the third period.
COMEBACK STORY: SCSU was down 3-0 in its game vs. UAF in the first period on Oct. 13. The Huskies went on to win the contest 6-3 with six unanswered goals. The last time SCSU return from a 3-goal deficit was on Oct. 21, 2016 at Minnesota. SCSU trailed 5-2 in the third period before a rallying that ended in a 6-5 OT win.
FREE HOCKEY:- The 5-4 victory on Oct. 14 was SCSU's first overtime game of the season. Of note, the last time that SCSU won a game in OT was a 3-2 victory over Denver at the HBNHC on Jan. 20, 2017. Last year, SCSU was 2-6-1 in OT games.
COLLEGE DEBUT: Freshman goalie David Hrenak made his collegiate debut on Oct. 14 with a 5-4 OT win over UAF. Hrenak, a resident of Slovakia, made 22 saves in the game for the Huskies..
NIFTY 50s:Jimmy Schuldt has a three-game goal scoring streak headed into the Huskies' weekend series against Boston College. He charted his 50th career point in the Huskies' 6-3 win over UAF on Oct. 13 and now has 52 career points in 80 games played for SCSU (22g/30a)...Judd Peterson also hit his 50th career point with a pair of helpers against UAF on Oct. 13. Peterson now has 51 points in 114 games played at SCSU. The senior captain from Duluth has 31 goals and 20 assists as a Husky.
HE'S BACK: SCSU's leading scorer in 2016-17, Mikey Eyssimont returned to the ice on Oct. 13-14 in the series against UAF. Eyssimont made a quick impact with two goals scored in the 5-4 OT win over UAF. In his career, Eyssimont has 65 points (28g/37a) for the Huskies.
NCHC POWER: Since the move from the WCHA to the NCHC in 2013-14, the Huskies have scored an 18-4-1 record against teams currently aligned with the WCHA.
POEHLING POST: Sophomore Nick Poehling ranks second on the team with three goals this season. He had two goals on Oct. 13, which equals a career game-high for goals scored. He also was set up on the GWG in OT on Oct. 14 by his brother Jack Poehling. The play was selected as the #5 play of the week by the NCAA. Jack Poehling already has two ENGs this season for the Huskies. Last year, SCSU had a total of four ENGs.
GOOD START: In case you were wondering, the last time SCSU opened the season with three consecutive wins was during the 2015-16 season. SCSU won its first four games of the season in 2015-16. SCSU went on to tie a school record with 31 wins that season at 31-9-1. Of note, SCSU longest win streak to start a season was nine games in 2001-02 and an 8-0-1 record to start 2003-04.

THE LAST TIME: The last time SCSU was ranked #2 in the nation by one of the national DI polls was on March 21, 2016.
BC IN TOWN: This marks the first trip to the HBNHC for the #13 Boston College Eagles. BC owns a 1-0-0 series lead against SCSU, which dates back to a 2-1 OT loss against Boston College at the Florida Hockey Classic in Estero, Fla. on Dec. 29, 2004...BC coach Jerry York is the all-time winnigest coach in the history of college hockey with 1,034 victories during his 46 seasons of coaching college hockey. He is in his 24th season at Boston College with 567 wins with the Eagles. Jerry York played at Boston College from 1965-67 and later went on to coach at Clarkson and Bowling Green before returning to Chestnut Hill in 1994-95.
