Volleyball Has Three Matches This Week

Hosts No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State Over the Weekend
St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud State volleyball team (10-6, 3-4 NSIC) looks to get back to the winning way with three matches this week in the always difficult NSIC. The program starts the week with a 6 p.m. contest against Bemidji State (3-12, 0-7 NSIC) on Oct. 3 at BSU Gymnasium in Bemidji. The program then return home to Halenbeck Hall to take on No. 2 nationally ranked Concordia-St. Paul (14-1, 7-0 NSIC) on Friday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. and Minnesota State (9-6, 3-4 NSIC) on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m.

- The program was swept on the road over the weekend by a pair of ranked opponents in No. 17 Augustana and No. 22 Wayne State College
- Sam Leach leads the team in both kills (100) and assists (305).

- Emma Hallman has total 22 service aces plus 174 digs.
- Julie Touchett has recorded 10 service aces and 42 blocks
- Maddie Filipiak has a team-high 43 blocks
- The Huskies defeated BSU by a 3-1 count earlier this season (9/14/17) with Becca Gruber totaling a career-high 16 kills in the first home match of the campaign.

- The program lost to No. 14 Northern State last weekend in three sets, but rallied to beat MSU Moorhead in a five-set match on the road.

- St. Cloud State lost a pair of road matches over the weekend to top ranked Southwest Minnesota State (3-0) and receiving votes Sioux Falls (3-1).
- The program was led on the week by 20 kills (2.82 per set) from senior Nicole Miller.
- She also totaled 24 digs (3.43 per set).
- Senior Kayla Crane led the team with three service aces.
- Freshman Taylor Olstad had 19 digs.
- Sophomore Clara Krenz led the team on the week with 32 digs.
- Krenz leads the NSIC in both total digs (323) and digs per set (5.77).
- She ranks 21st nationally in digs per set as well.
- Krenz is also placed 14th in the conference in service aces (18).

- The program is 9-10 against Upper Iowa since the two schools first squared off in 2004. SCSU is 38-17 all-time against Winona State since the first match in 1969.
