Volleyball Takes on No. 9 Northern State and MSU Moorhead On the Road This Weekend

St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud State volleyball team (14-9, 6-7 NSIC) plays a pair of NSIC road matches this weekend. The program begins the weekend and travels Aberdeen, S.D. to take on No. 9 Northern State (18-3, 11-2 NSIC) on Friday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m. at the Wachs Arena. The program continues the road swing and heads to Moorhead, Minn. to play against MSU Moorhead (8-13, 3-10 NSIC) on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 5 p.m. at Nemzek Field House.

Northern State have won two in a row after defeating Bemidji State 3-1 and Minnesota Crookston 3-0 over the weekend.
The Wolves are winners of 17 of the last 19 matches and have risen to No. 9 nationally.

Courtney Selbitschlea has 147 kills (2.19 per set).
Lauren Kiewett has totaled 125 kills, 170 assists and 18 service aces.
Ellie Hoyt leads the team with her 524 assists.
She also has 17 service aces.
Monica Vega has a team-high 389 digs.
Kylie Kanwischer has 83 blocks.
The Huskies lead the all-time series with MSU Moorhead 37-21 since the first meeting in 1972.

St. Cloud State had a strong 2-0 week with home victories over University of Mary in five games and a sweep of Minot State over last weekend.
The program has swept nine matches this season.
The team's 14 wins this season are the most since getting 14 during the 2014 season and only the fourth time since 2004 that the program has gotten 14 or more wins in a season.
Redshirt freshman Abby Templin led the team with her 20 kills on the week (2.50 per set) while hitting .326.
Junior Micah Nier totaled 19 kills (2.38) with a .344 hitting percentage.
Freshman Erin Navratil recorded 14 kills and a .429 hitting percentage.
Freshman Maddy Torve and senior Kayla Crane both had 44 assists.
Sophomore Clara Krenz recorded 55 digs (6.88 per set).
On the season, Krenz leads the NSIC in total digs (482) and digs per set (5.95).
She is 14th nationally in digs per set and 18th in total digs.
Krenz is also 13th in the NSIC in service aces (26).
Senior Nicole Miller is 12th in total digs (256) and 10th in service aces (27).
Sophomore Marah Mulso is 12th in total blocks (67) and 14th in blocks per set (0.85)
Senior Becca Gruber is 19th in total kills (212).
Kayla Crane is 14th in the NSIC in assists (464) and assists per set (5.66)
Maddy Torve is ranked 17th in assists (390) and 18th in assists per set (4.76)
Krenz recently moved to fourth on the single season digs list at SCSU and is 75 from moving up to the third spot held by Brianne Stamer.
She is also just nine digs from moving into the top 10 on the career digs list at SCSU (930).
In the NSIC team rankings, SCSU is second in total attacks (3,149) and digs per set (17.30), third in total digs (1,419), service aces (124) and attacks per set (38.40), sixth in team assists (977) and team kills (1,049) plus eighth in aces per set (1.51)

St. Cloud State hosts three matches next week starting with a contest against No. 4 Minnesota Duluth on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 6 p.m. at Halenbeck Hall.
The program then takes on Sioux Falls on Friday, Nov. 3, at 6 p.m. and wraps up the weekend with a 2 p.m. contest on Saturday, Nov. 4, against top ranked nationally Southwest Minnesota State.
SCSU fell to Minnesota Duluth by a 3-0 count earlier this season on Sept. 19 and trail the all-time series to the Bulldogs 37-76 since the first meeting in 1969.
The team lost to Sioux Falls by a 3-1 margin on Sept. 30.
The Cougars lead that series 5-2 since the first match in 2012.
The team lost to Southwest Minnesota State by a 3-0 count on Sept. 29 and currently trail the Mustangs 25-18 in the all-time series.
