SCSU celebrates win over MSU, Mankato
St. Cloud State volleyball battles back to gain 3-2 victory

Down 2-0 afte the first two sets, the St. Cloud State University volleyball team relied upon a strong late match comeback to gain a 3-2 victory over visiting Minnesota State, Mankato on Saturday, Oct. 7 in St. Cloud, Minn.
The Huskies fell by scores of 26-24 and 25-22 in the first two sets to go down 2-0. In the third set, SCSU tallied with a 25-23 victory and then gained a 25-15 win in the fourth set to force the fifth and decisive set. SCSU went on to claim the match with a 15-11 victory in the final set. The win moves SCSU's season record to 12-7, 4-5 NSIC, while Minnesota State, Mankato falls to 9-8, 3-6 NSIC.
In the final set, SCSU relied upon a strong attack as the Huskies posted a .412 kill rate. In the match, Becca Gruber led the Huskies with 13 kills and five block assists. Front row teammate Abby Templin had 12 kills in the match, whule Marah Mulso added eight kills and six block assists.
Nicole Miller turned in another top effort with nine kills in the match along with 18 digs. Defensive specialist Clara Krenz led the Huskies with 24 digs and three service aces, while Kayla Crane topped the charts for SCSU with 27 sets in the match. Maddy Torve also had 22 sets in the game.
As a team, SCSU had an .183 attack percentage and the Huskies held MSU to a .156 attack rate.
SCSU will hit the road next weekend for NSIC matches at Upper Iowa on Oct. 13 and Winona State on Oct. 14.
