NSIC Baseball Tournament Bracket Announced

BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The 2017 NSIC Baseball Tournament bracket is set as regular season play concluded on Saturday. The top eight teams in the final regular season standings will participate in the double-elimination tournament, which will be held May 10-13 at Joe Faber and Dick Putz Fields in St. Cloud, Minnesota and hosted by St. Cloud State University.
The Huskies gained the number three seed in the tournament and will open tournament play against Minnesota Duluth at 6:30 p.m. on May 10. Â The game will be played on Dick Putz Field. Â
Minnesota State earned the number one seed after winning the NSIC Regular Season Championship. Â MSU will play #8 seed Minnesota Crookston at Noon on Faber Field on May 10, while #5 seed Minot State will play #4 seed Wayne State at 12:30 p.m. on Dick Putz Field. Â The other first day match up will feature #7 seed Concordia-St. Paul against #2 seed Augustana at 6 p.m. on Faber Field.
The double-elimination tourney will then continue through Saturday, May 13. Â Tickets for the tournament games may be purchased at the gate.
The winner of the NSIC Baseball Tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Region Tournament. The NCAA Central Region is made up of 40 teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (15), the Mid-America Athletic Association (MIAA) (13) and the Great American Conference (GAC) (12). Automatic bids are awarded to the tournament champions from each conference with the final five spots awarded on an at-large basis. In all, eight teams will advance to the NCAA Central Region Tournament played on May 18-22 at a site to be determined.
The NCAA Division II Baseball Championships will take place May 27 to June 3 in Grand Prairie, Texas. The NCAA Division II Baseball Selection show will air via webcast at NCAA.com on Sunday, May 14 at 9 p.m. central time.
