St. Cloud State trailed by one run against Concordia-St. Paul going into the ninth inning

TUCSON, Ariz. - The St. Cloud State baseball team (6-5) fell in the late innings of Wednesday night's ball game against Concordia St. Paul (3-1) at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Arizona on March 7th.

In a game where the Huskies once trailed by five runs through five innings, SCSU was able to scratch and claw their way to a one-run deficit entering the ninth inning. By executing on free bases through walks and hit-by-pitches, St. Cloud State carried the momentum through the back-end of the ball game.

The rally fell short in the top of the ninth even though Caeden Harris was able to reach base on a flared-single in shallow left-center field.

Offensively, the Huskies stranded ten runners and put together nine hits as a team. Three of those hits came from Caeden Harris while Ethan Ibarra and Jordan Joseph each recorded two RBI's.

Defensively, SCSU did not record an error and overall, played clean baseball. Kyle Boser was the pticher of record for the Huskies, falling to 1-1 on the year after going 4.1 innings and striking out two while allowing six runs. Mattew Osterberg shined out of the bullpen with a stellar 3.2 innings of shutout baseball where he struck out three and did not allow a walk either.

The Huskies look to break their losing-streak in the last day of their Tucson trip on Thursday, March 8 at 9:00 AM MST when they take on Olivet Nazarene. Nazarene is a NAIA opponent and the projected SCSU starter is freshman, Trevor Koenig.
