The St. Cloud State men's hockey team (1-2-3, 0-0-0 NCHC) will travel to #16 Northern Michigan University (6-1-1, 4-0-0 WCHA) on Friday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov. 9 for a pair of games at the Berry Events Center in Marquette, Mich. The game on Nov. 8 is slated to start at 6:07 pm CT and the Nov. 9 will start at 5:07 p.m. CT.  Â

NHL UPDATE: Former Husky Ryan Poehling was recently called up by the Montreal Canadiens and played in his second NHL games this week. Poehling had been playing with Montreal's AHL affiliate the Laval Rocket before joining the Canadiens this week. Poehling is one of 10 former Huskies who have been listed on NHL rosters during the 2019-20 season already. Poehling played for the Huskies from 2016-19.

NCHC CHAMPS: The Huskies claimed the 2018-19 NCHC championship with a 5-0 win at Omaha on Feb. 23. This marks the third time the Huskies have won the Penrose Cup, which is the most of any team in the NCHC. SCSU also won the NCHC regular season title in 2014, 2018 and 2019.

TIGER TALES: St. Cloud State posted a 5-3 loss and a 5-5 OT tie vs. Princeton on Nov. 1-2 at the HBNHC last weekend. On Nov. 1, SCSU goals were charted by Sam Hentges, Spencer Meier and Jack Ahcan as the Huskies outshot the Tigers 34-23 in the match. On the power play, SCSU was solid at 2-of-5...to wrap the weekend, SCSU skated to a 5-5 OT decision vs. Princeton at the HBNHC. SCSU goals were notched by Hentges, Chase Brand, Easton Brodzinski, Nick Perbix and Jake Wahlin. SCSU outshot PU by a 30-24 margin and the Huskies were 3-of-8 in a game that featured 16 penalties and 43 PIMs. Â

FIRST GOAL AND FIRST ASSIST: Freshman forward Chase Brand posted his first collegiate goal on Nov. 2 with a marker at 15:56. He also tallied an assist on Spencer Meier's goal on Nov. 1. On the season, Brand now has one goal and two assists for the Huskies. He played junior hockey with Madison of the USHL and prepped at Park Rapids H.S.Â

NCHC PLAYER OF THE MONTH: SCSU sophomore forward was named the NCHC Player of the Month for October 2019. In his first four games of the month, Hentges tallied three goals, three assists, six points and had one game winning goal. He contributed a point on six of SCSU's nine goals scored as a team during the month. He continued his hot start on Nov. 1-2 with two goals and three assists in the series vs. Princeton. Hentges leads SCSU and all NCHC players (overall games played) with 11 points this season (5g/6a). Hentges will bring a four-game goal scoring streak and a six game point scoring streak into the weekend series at NMU. In two years at SCSU, Hentges has accounted for 15g/16. Hentges is a draft pick of the Minnesota Wild and a resident of New Brighton, Minn.
