#1 SCSU wrestling continues winning streak with 32-6 victory at Moorhead

The #1 ranked St. Cloud State University wrestling team (17-0, 5-0 NSIC) won its 45 consecutive dual meet with a 32-6 win at NSIC rival Minnesota State, Moorhead on Thursday, Jan. 31.
The Huskies opened the night at 184-pounds with a 12-4 major decision win for Chance Helmick, who improved to 8-0 on the season with the win.  At 197-pounds, #1 ranked Vince Dietz continued SCSU's winning ways with a 15-6 major decision over MSUM's Mitchell Kotschevar.  Dietz is now 22-0 on the season for SCSU.
At 285-pounds, Noah Ryan scored a 3-1 decision victory for the Huskies. Â At 125-pounds, #7 ranked Cole Jones posted a 6-4 win over SCSU's #1 ranked Brett Velasquez. Â The Huskies quickly got back on track with a 10-8 overtime win by Garrett Vos at 133-pounds. Â Travis Swanson added a pin for the Huskies at 1:12 in the match against MSUM's Mason Schulz at 141-pounds.
At 149-pounds, #3 James Pleski notched a 5-3 win over Dylan Connell and #7 Jake Barzowksi posted a 12-2 major win for SCSU at 157-pounds.  At 165-pounds, #9 Devin FitzPatrick added bonus points with a 17-2 major decision win over MSUM's Ryan Stenson.  To complete the night, #10 ranked Adam Blees defeated SCSU's Hunter Gray by a 1-0 score at 174-pounds.
The Huskies have now won 45 consecutive dual matches dating back to Jan. 14, 2017.  The Huskies have also won 58 consecutive NSIC dual matches dating back to an 18-13 loss to Augustana on Jan. 27, 2011. Since that loss, SCSU has won seven consecutive NSIC titles in 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012. Â
SCSU will compete next at Upper Iowa on Feb. 7 with a 7 p.m. match in Fayette, Iowa.
