SCSU's Britin Thomsen earns Google Cloud Academic All-District Honors

St. Cloud State University senior diver Britin Thomsen (New Prague, Minn./H.S.) has been named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud NCAA Division II Women's Academic All-District 7 At-Large First Team. Thomsen is one of only student-athletes from the always rugged Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference to receive recognition on this year's 2018-19 Google Cloud NCAA Division II Women's Academic All-District 7 At-Large Team.
The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes outstanding student-athletes in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
The At-Large Team includes student-athletes in the sports of swimming and diving, tennis, golf, ice hockey, rifle, skiing, fencing, lacrosse, volleyball, gymnastics and water polo.
Thomsen won multiple All-America honors in diving during her collegiate career. In 2018, Thomsen placed third in the 1M diving event and eighth in the 3M diving event. At the 2019 NCAA Championships, Thomsen returned to the All-America podium with a 12th place finish in the 1M diving event and ninth in the 3M diving event. ThomsenÂ
Under the direction of 18th year head coach Jeff Hegle, St. Cloud State won the 2019 NSIC women's swimming and diving championship. At the 2019 NCAA DII championships, the SCSU women's team placed 20th as Gehrke, Thomsen, Anderson, Rebekah Stone, the 200 free relay and 400 free relay all gained All-America honors. Â
The NSIC Diver of the Year in 2017, 2018 and 2019, Thomsen won both the 1M and 3M diving titles at the 2019 NSIC championships. She was a driving force behind the Huskies' first place team finish at this year's NSIC championships. She is a three-time All-NSIC Academic award recipient and received the SCSU Excellence in Leadership Award for 2018-19.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
