
SCSU men's swim and dive places fourth at 2020 GLIAC Championships

The St. Cloud State men's swimming and diving team completed its run at the 2020 GLIAC Championships at the Gerspacker Regional Aquatic Center in Center, Mich. On Saturday, Feb. 22 with a fourth place finish in the team standings.

On the final day of competition, the Huskies featured several top performances led by a third place finish by SCSU's 400 free relay team of Matheus Laperriere, Kyle Weis, Abe Townley and Joel Huth with a time of 3:01.52.

Matheus LaPerriere finished the meet with a fourth place finish in the 100 freestyle at 45.14. In the 3-meter diving event, SCSU's Evan Infante posted a fourth place finish with a score of 386.55.

In the 200 backstroke, SCSU's Kevin Guenter placed seventh with a time of 1:52.82 and teammate Andres Hernandez touched the wall next with an eighth place time of 1:54.14.

Jayden Porter completed his time in Michigan with a fifth place finish in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:02.13. In the 1650 freestyle event, SCSU's Gavin Block finished with an eighth place time of 16:07.48.

In the team standings, SCSU was fourth with 399 points. Grand Valley State won the meet with a score of 1025, while Wayne State University was second at 761 and Northern Michigan was third at 653.5. Ashland (268.5) and Saginaw Valley State (268) completed the field.

The Huskies will now await word on individuals who have qualified for the upcoming 2020 NCAA Division II men's swimming and diving championships, which will be held on March 11-14 in Geneva, Ohio
