The Gophers opened up the scoring in the first with a pair of Taylor Heise goals; one 33 seconds into the game and the second with four minutes to play in the period. St. Cloud State's penalty kill was on their game in the second period, killing off three Minnesota power plays. SCSU's Laura Kluge led the way with three shots on goal, while Kenzie Wylie, Klara Hymlarova and Taylor Lind each had two blocks. Freshman netminder Sanni Ahola stopped 33 shots in the loss.
The Huskies return to action this coming weekend with a two-game series against Bemidij State at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Friday's game will start at 6:07 p.m. CST with Saturday's contest at 3:07 p.m. CST.
