Gentry, Lind score again in 2-2 series finale tie

Emma Gentry and Taylor Lind each scored in St. Cloud State's (3-7-1, 3-7-1 WCHA) 2-2 tie with Bemidji State (1-7-2, 1-7-2 WCHA)Â on Saturday afternoon. Both players tallied a goal in Friday's opener, and Gentry has now found the back of the net in all four games she has played against BSU in her career. The Huskies received one point in the WCHA standings as Bemidji State won the sudden-death shootout. SCSU stands at sixth place in the conference with 10 points, three ahead of the Beavers.
St. Cloud State began with an outstanding first half of the opening period, as Lind batted in a Taytum Geier rocket from the point to give the Huskies an early lead two and a half minutes in. Gentry added another score five minutes later, blasting a feed off an Olivia Cvar faceoff win past the Beavers goaltender. The Huskies' tremendous penalty kill eliminated back-to-back Bemidji State power plays late in the first, including a few moments of five-on-three. Sanni Ahola recorded 14 saves in the period, negating an early Huskies faceoff win disadvantage.
Bemidji State knotted the game back up at two with a pair of late-second period goals. A scoreless third set the stage for another goal-free session in overtime, then the Beavers tallied a sudden-death shootout win in the second round.
Ahola stopped 34 shots on the evening, including a litany of eye-popping snags in traffic, while Lind and Cvar each recorded a pair of blocks. Cvar put on an incredible display in the faceoff circle, going 22-12 for a 64.7% success rate.
The Huskies will finish their homestand on January 22 and 23 next weekend against Wisconsin with puck drop scheduled for 3:07 p.m. and 2:07 p.m. CST.
