Huskies fall 6-2 in first game of series on the road
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – No. 2 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (9-4-0, 3-2-0 NCHC) dropped the first game of a road series to No. 13 Western Michigan (7-4-0, 2-3-0 NCHC), 6-2, on Friday evening in Kalamazoo, Mich. The first two periods were played very closely, as the Broncos lead, 2-0 heading into the second intermission, but Western Michigan managed to score three goals in the final period to take the first game of the series.
 
TURNING POINT
 
The Huskies trailed by just two to open the third period, but Western Michigan opened the third period with three consecutive goals, including two in the first two minutes of the period to open a 5-0 lead. The Huskies were able to score two quick goals later in the period, but the five-goal lead was too much to overcome on this night.

The Huskies and Broncos return to Lawson Arena for the second game of the series on Saturday. The game is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. CT on NCHC.tv.

TOP HUSKIES
- Junior forward Zach Okabe (Okotoks, Alberta) scored his fourth goal of the season with a third period power play.
- Senior forward Micah Miller (Grand Rapids, Minn.) scored his fifth goal of the season in the third period.
- Three Husky defenseman – graduate Seamus Donohue (North Oaks, Minn.), senior Spencer Meier (Sartell, Minn.) and freshman Jack Peart (Grand Rapids, Minn.) – recorded assists in the game.
- Miller recorded his 19th career goal and 42nd career point, while Okabe scored his 17th career goal and 39th career point.
- Okabe's third period goal came on the power play, the Huskies' 20th on the season. Entering the game, the Huskies led the nation with 19 power play goals.
- As a team, the Huskies are now 20-of-58 (34.5 percent) on the power play this season.
- Donohue recorded his 64th career assist and 72nd career point, while Meier recorded his 31st career assist and 41st career assist.
- Peart recorded his fourth career assist and ninth career point.
