Huskies host RV Mavericks in rivalry weekend

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Hockey welcomes rival RV Minnesota State to the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center this weekend for a two-game home series. The Huskies clash with the Mavericks on Friday and Saturday, November 5 and 6 with puck drop set for 6:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. CST respectively. SCSU owns a 45-37-13 advantage in the all-time series against Minnesota State.
Coverage of the series will be on 97.5 FM RadioX Friday and 88.1 FM KVSC Saturday. The series will also be streamed on B1G+ for subscribers. Friday's tilt features the Huskies' canned food drive with $5 admission for fans who bring a canned food item, while Saturday is a Youth Night with an autograph card given to fans wearing a jersey.
The Huskies were swept on the road last weekend by No. 2 Ohio State, being outscored 15-3 in the series. Taylor Lind is St. Cloud State's point leader with seven on a 2-5-7 line, scoring a point in nine of her last twelve, while Emma Gentry leads the team with three goals. Senior defender Taytum Geier has notched an assist in four of the Huskies' first eight games this season and freshman pairing mate Dayle Ross leads all Huskies with 20 blocks. Emma Polusny is 46 saves away from moving to second all-time in Huskies history after stopping 51 shots against the Buckeyes.
Minnesota State is currently receiving votes in the USA Today poll, beginning WCHA play 1-5-0 with a win over then-No. 5 Minnesota-Duluth. Brittyn Fleming has scored three times with 10 assists for a Maverick-leading 13 points, while Kelsey King leads the goal-getters with seven. Both Brooke Bryant and Sydney Langseth have lit the lamp five times. Defender Charlotte Akervik has piled up 10 points on a 2-8-10 line while skating to a team-best plus-six. Calla Frank has started nine games in net, going 4-5-0 with a 3.78 goals against and a .885 save percentage.
The Huskies will be idle next week before battling No. 3 Minnesota in a home-and-home series.
