Burroughs and Matchinsky Garner NSIC Weekly Honors

Matchinsky earns the honor for the second time
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Graduate swimmer Alexis Burroughs (Ladysmith, Wis.) and junior diver Meredith Matchinsky (St. Cloud, Minn.) were named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, announced by the league on Tuesday. It marks the fourth time this season she was been named the Diver of the Week for the conference, and the first time a swimmer took home the honors.
At the Rochester Invite (Dec. 3-5), Burroughs placed third in the 50-yard freestyle with a NCAA B-cut time of 23.92 and second in the 100-yard IM with a time of 59.47 and the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.91. She also swam the opening leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay with a split of 52.24, helping team to second place at 3:36.18.
Matchinsky was named the NSIC Diver of the Week for the second time this season (Nov. 9), after winning the 3-meter dive with a score of 462.5 and placing second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 435.05. She helped lead the Huskies to a second-place finish with 901.5 points, only trailing D-I Omaha (987 points)
Next, St. Cloud State will host St. John's and St. Benedict's in a Tri-Meet on Jan. 13 at the Halenbeck Hall Aquatic Center.
