ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Hockey trailed 3-2 entering the final 20 minutes of regulation against No. 2 Ohio State on Tuesday but saw the Buckeyes tack on three in the third period, going on to fall 6-2 in the midweek tilt. The Huskies were outshot 45-19 on the afternoon, with Taylor Lind supplying a team-high five shots on goal to go with a two-point game (1-1-2). Trailing 2-0 late in the first, Lind threaded a pass from circle to circle across to Emma Gentry standing alone on the right dot. Gentry launched a heavy wrister past the Buckeye tender, cutting the deficit to one with her 14th goal of the season. Ohio State scored again to open the second, followed shortly by Lind redirecting a left point shot by Taytum Geier around the goaltender, making it a 3-2 game.

QUOTABLES
St. Cloud State Women's Hockey Head Coach Steve Macdonald
"We put ourselves in a good position against a very good hockey team. We had them in a spot where we felt we could be successful, and we just got a little loose in the D-zone in the third period. Good teams are going to capitalize, and that's what they did. That's something we need to stay sharp on. I thought we did well in the first two periods, they got a few in with their offensive zone structure and we just let it get away from us in the third. I'm happy with a lot of pieces of how we played."
On the top line's performance… "When you put points on the board, that's what we look to that line for. You look to them for points and good defensive structure, you rely on them as a couple of our leading scorers. They were able to do that, but we need to be able to hold a team to less than six goals in order to win. That's something we need to sharpen up on for Friday."
On takeaways going into the upcoming Minnesota series… "We know we can compete with the best. We've proven it here against Wisconsin. We can play with the top teams. It's that belief – taking that into Friday. That's what we'll be looking to do."
UP NEXT
