St. Cloud State opens 25th season of Women’s Hockey with home series against RPI

Huskies host Engineers on Friday and Saturday
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Hockey begins their 25th season of competition with a home series against RPI on Friday and Saturday. The Huskies and Engineers drop the puck at 6:00 p.m. CT Friday with a 3:00 p.m. start on Saturday at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
Weekend Promotions
Opening Night features a canned food drive with $5 tickets available for fans who bring a canned food item to donate. Saturday is a Youth Night – children ages 13 and under will receive free admission – and will include a free schedule poster to the first 250 fans.
Broadcast Information
The series will be streamed on B1G+ with Friday's opener broadcast on 97.5 FM RadioX. Live stats are available for both games with links to each streaming platform available on the SCSU Women's Hockey schedule page.
Huskies Primer
St. Cloud State enters 2022-23 under the direction of Brian Idalski, manning the bench in his first season as the Huskies' head coach. SCSU returns their entire top-six including 93% of the team's points from a season ago. The formidable top line of Taylor Lind, Jenniina Nylund and Emma Gentry will be looked to as key scoring threats alongside talented wings Olivia Cvar and Klára Hymlárová. Centers Addi Scribner and Courtney Hall each reached the double-digit point threshold last season, providing playmaking to the second and third lines. Sanni Ahola and transfer JoJo Chobak project to serve as one of the top netminding pairs in the conference while Taytum Geier and McKenna Wesloh provide senior leadership to a young defensive corps.
Scouting RPI
The Engineers went 9-23-0 a season ago, finishing 5-17-0 in the ECAC. Goaltender Amanda Rampardo headlines the RPI lineup, fresh off a junior campaign in which she started 30 games and posted a .930 save percentage alongside a 2.38 goals against. Leading scorer Marah Wagner (11-10-21) returns to center the top line after winning 53.8% of draws taken last season. Audrey McCutcheon (7-4-11), Julia Blitz (4-6-10) and Taylor Larsen (4-6-10) join Wagner as returners with double-digit points a season ago.

SCSU is 4-3-0 all-time against RPI, with all four wins coming on the road. The Huskies have won each of the last four meetings, sweeping a road series from the Engineers last year 4-2 and 4-1. Jenniina Nylund earned WCHA Forward of the Week honors following the sweep after recording a hat trick in the finale.
