JoJo Chobak (5-4-0, .902 SV%, 3.02 GAA) and Sanni Ahola (6-6-0, .916 SV%, 2.68 GAA) have formed one of the top goaltending duos in the league.
Series History
It's been a while since SCSU has faced New Hampshire, with the last meeting occurring on January 18, 2002 - a 7-3 loss that saw Roxanne Stang score a pair of goals and add one assist for a three-point contest. The Huskies are 3-1-0 all-time against Merrimack with a road sweep in October of 2015 and a home split to open the 2016-17 season.
A First Half to Remember
Closing the first half at 11-10-0, the Huskies recorded their winningest first half in program history and just their second double-digit win mark at the break. SCSU's first half winning percentage of .524 trails only 2007-08 (.556) and marks the second time the program has entered the break at .500 or better.
Standings & Such
With the league about to begin the second half, the Huskies find themselves fifth in a hotly-contested fight for fourth place. SCSU enters the weekend fourth in the league with 19 points – just two behind No. 8 Minnesota Duluth and three ahead of (RV) Minnesota State. The Bulldogs visit No. 2 Wisconsin in the lone WCHA series this weekend before all eight league teams return to conference action next week. St. Cloud State returns to conference play by visiting Minnesota State, Duluth hosts Bemidji State, Minnesota welcomes St. Thomas and Wisconsin travels east to Ohio State.
Getting Gritty
Remaining true to the team's newfound identity, the grind-and-grit Huskies boast the top four shot-blockers in the WCHA. Dayle Ross leads the league with 47 blocks, Regan Bulger is second with 44 while Grace Wolfe and Taytum Geier go three-four with 41 and 40 respectively. No other skater in the league has more than 35 blocked shots. As a team, St. Cloud State has 309 blocks – good for 14.71 per game – which lands them second in both categories across the WCHA behind only Bemidji State's 339 and 15.41.
Special Teams Stonewallers
St. Cloud State's penalty kill has been stellar this season, ranking second across the league and 11th nationally at 88.0%. The Huskies lead the WCHA with 90 penalties taken - 13 more than any other club - and pace the league in penalties taken per game, hitting the box more than four times per night.
Powering Up
The Huskies complement their strong PK with a dynamic power play that presently ranks fourth in the league and eighth in the country at 22.6%. Klára Hymlárová has scored five power play goals, ranking second in both the WCHA and NCAA.
Looking at the Leaderboards
