Just one week later, the two teams played in St. Cloud with the same result, as sophomore forward Ellie Primerano (Saint Joseph, Mich.) and freshman forward Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.) found the back of the net in a 2-1 victory.
The Huskies have won seven consecutive games in the series between the two programs, dating back to Sept. 9, 2018. During the seven-game winning streak, the SCSU has outscored UMD 17-4 with three shutouts.
CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS
St. Cloud State clinched the NSIC Regular Season Championship with its win over Minnesota Crookston on Nov. 2, marking its first conference championship in program history. The Huskies finished the conference regular season with 32 points (10-2-2), finishing one point ahead of Minnesota State (31 points, 9-1-4). The Huskies also matched season program records for wins and conference wins with 13 and 10, respectively.
Monday's match will mark the third time in program history SCSU has hosted a first-round match in the NSIC Tournament. The Huskies defeated Bemidji State in a shootout win (1-1 T, 2 OT) on Nov. 4, 2009 and beat Mary, 2-1, on Nov. 2, 2011, both games played at Husky Stadium.
If the Huskies were able to beat the Bulldogs, the NSIC semifinals and championship game would be played in St. Cloud for the first time in program history. The Huskies have advanced to the NSIC semifinals three time (2009, 2011, 2019) and to the NSIC championship game once (2011).
REGIONAL RANKINGS
St. Cloud State was ranked second in the central region of the NCAA Women's Soccer Regional Rankings, as announced on Nov. 1. The Huskies are the highest-ranked and one of five NSIC teams ranked, joining Minnesota State (No. 3), Augustana (No. 5), Northern State (No. 8) and Minnesota Duluth (No. 9).
The Huskies seem to be in-line for their first NCAA Tournament berth in program history, as they have already surpassed its win total and conference win total from a season ago and have many other program records with post season play still to-go.
CENTRAL REGION RANKINGS (D-II record, In-Region record, as of Nov. 1)

Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the MIAA, GAC and NSIC postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots awarded on an at-large basis.

HISTORIC SEASON IN PROGRESS
St. Cloud State's historic 2023 season now heads the postseason play, as the Huskies have already matched program records for most wins and conference wins in program history at 13 and 10, respectively. They also matched a program record for unbeaten streak at nine with its run of 8-0-1 between Sept. 22 and Oct. 20. Below is a list of program records that could be set in 2023 (bold if matched or set already).
OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION AGAINST CROOKSTON
St. Cloud State's offense exploded in its regular season finale against Minnesota Crookston, winning 6-0 on Nov. 2 to clinch its first conference championship in program history. The six goals scored are the most in a game since scoring seven in a 7-0 win over Minnesota Crookston on Sept. 14, 2008.
Ellie Primerano and sophomore midfielder Brooke Quam (Lakeville, Minn.) led the offensive charge for the Huskies in the victory, as Primerano scored two goals and had two assists for six points, while Quam added a goal and three assists for five points. SCSU set numerous season single-game highs in the victory, including points (20), goals (six), assists (eight), shots (34), shots on goal (19) and corner kicks (19).
With six points in the game (2g/2a), Primerano became the 17th player in program history to record six or more points in a game and the first since Maria Kass did so in 2016. Her six points put her in a 13-way tie for the fifth-most points in a single game in program history. Primerano's pair of goals marked her first career multi-goal game. Quam had three assists in the game, becoming the ninth player in program history to record three or more assists in the game and the first since 2008 when Chelsey Scheller recorded four assists.
ALL-NSIC CANDIDATES
Ellie Primerano and Brooke Quam have put together likely All-NSIC campaigns in 2023, as the share the conference lead for most assists this season with eight. No other NSIC player has more than six assists this season. The duo would join an exclusive club if they were to earn first-team all-conference honors, as only 14 Huskies have earned first team honors since 1997. Only twice before have the Huskies had more than one student-athlete named to the all-conference first team, with Lisa Carroll and Katie Brehm earning NCC first team honors in 1997 and Mary Morhardt and Alexandra Pafko earning NSIC first team honors in 2010. Add in Linsey Trapino's standout freshman campaign and this season's Huskies could be the first SCSU team with three first-team honorees.
Primerano has followed up her 2022 NSIC Second Team selection with another impressive campaign in her sophomore season as she has produced four goals and eight assists for 16 points while adding one game-winning goal and 11 shots on goal. Her eight assists already rank seventh all-time on the single season top-10 list in program history.
Quam has recorded three goals and eight assists for 14 points and ranks second on the team with 21 shots on goal. Just like Primerano, her eight assists rank seventh in a season in program history.
FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR CAMPAIGN
Linsey Trapino has come on strong in the second half of the season for the Huskies and is currently making a bid for NSIC Freshman of the Year. In the final eight games of the regular season, Trapino scored 13 points with five goals and three assists, taking the team lead for points with 17 points (seven goals / three assists). Trapino leads all NSIC freshmen in both goals (seven) and points (17) in 2023.
She was named the was named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 9 after she scored or assisted on each of SCSU's three goals in victories over Minot State (1-0, Oct. 6) and Mary (2-1, Oct. 8) and take over the top spot in the conference standings.
STRICKLAND STIFLES IN GOAL
Freshman goalkeeper Jaylee Strickland (Columbus, Ohio) has made the most of her opportunity to play right away in the net for the Huskies, registering a 12-3-2 record with a 0.76 goals-against average, .814 save percentage and seven shutouts. In the NSIC, she ranks third in goals against average (0.76), fifth in save percentage (.814) and sixth in shutouts (seven). At season's end, the freshman goalkeeper will enter the program's top-10 list for goalkeeper seasons in program history, as her 0.76 GAA currently ranks first, her seventh shutouts rank fourth and her .814 S% ranks 10th.
