
Huskies Track & Field to compete at Kansas Relays

St. Cloud State travels to Rock Chalk Park to participate in 100th Anniversary of the historic KU meet
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Track & Field travels to Lawrence, Kansas this week for the 100th anniversary Kansas Relays at Rock Chalk Park. The historic meet returns for the first time since 2019, with field events set to kick off the competition on Thursday, April 13 at noon CT followed by a 5:00 p.m. CT start for the running events.
Friday's action begins at 9:00 a.m. CT with the running events followed by the field beginning at 10:00 a.m. CT. Saturday's festivities feature both the field and running events starting at 9:00 a.m. CT.

LAST TIME ON THE TRACK
St. Cloud State Track & Field saw eight student-athletes record personal bests while 10 placed within the top 10 of their events as the Huskies opened their 2023 Outdoor season at the USD Early Bird in Vermillion, South Dakota on Friday and Saturday, April 7-8.
The Huskies began competition with a distance-filled Friday afternoon slate in Vermillion, opening with a top-seven finish by Clara Welhouse (11:54.52) in the Steeplechase. Mariana Guerra-Reese recorded a personal best of 2:18.65 to take 10th in the 800 Meter – continuing to build on a strong Indoor season – while Brooklyn Brouse added a PR of 1:03.25 in the 400 Meter to take fifth. Greta Freed (39:39.07) and Cambrie Kowal (40:44.28) each set new PR's in the 10,000 Meter, closing the day by placing fourth and sixth respectively.
Saturday's track events opened with a top-11 effort from Shelby Romig (15.25s) in the 100 Meter Hurdle prelims followed by a Brouse PR of 58.74s in the 400 Meter, good for fifth in the event. Katie Lavato set new personal bests in both the 100 Meter (12.65s) and 200 Meter (26.10s) before Guerra-Reese (2:20.76), Bouley (2:24.11) and Welhouse (2:26.45) placed second, third and fifth in the second running of the 800 Meter – joined by both Jaileen Medina and Erica Conrad in the top 25 for a strong Huskies team race.
In the field, Paola Brena opened her Outdoor campaign by clearing 1.65m in the High Jump to take second. Parker Buske (12.09m) and Destiny Baughman (11.05m) landed fourth and 10th respectively in the Triple Jump while the duo was joined by Romig in the top 25 Long Jump marks.
