
St. Cloud State Women’s Soccer Powers Past Wayne State

Primerano and Hawkey find back of the net, SCSU offense produces 28 shots and 10 shots on goal
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Powered by a high-powered offensive attack and clamping defense, St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (5-2-0, 2-1-0 NSIC) earned a 2-0 victory over Wayne State (4-3-0, 2-1 NSIC) on Friday evening at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud. The Huskies' total team performance led to goals in the ninth and 54th minutes, as St. Cloud State improved to 3-0 at home in 2023. SCSU produced 28 shots and 10 shots on goal, while yielding just five total shots and one shot on goal.
TURNING POINT
Playing in front of a season-high 314 fans, sophomore forward Ellie Primerano (Saint Joseph, Mich.) gave the Huskies an early lead, as she scored in the ninth minute of the game off an assist from redshirt junior midfielder Gracie Parsons (Omaha, Neb.).
SCSU would add a second score later on in the 54th minute, as junior forward Ariel Hawkey (Graham, Wash.) scored off a corner kick, as freshman defender Ana Spaine (West Des Moines, Iowa) recorded the assist.

- The Huskies dominated many facets of the game, including time of possession (58-42 percent), shots (28-5), shots on goal (10-1) and corner kicks (8-4).
- Hawkey now leads the team in scoring with her third goal of the season.
- Primerano's goal was her second of the season, as she has now scored in the Huskies last two victories.
- Parsons and Spaine added assists on the Huskies' scores, each recording their second assist of the season.
- Strickland now has three shutouts on the season and is just two shutouts away from entering the Huskies top-10 all-time for a season.
