LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies (1-5-2, 1-2-1 GLIAC) played their most complete game in a 1-0 win against Purdue Northwest (4-1-3, 1-1-1 GLIAC) in Hammond, Ind. on Sunday afternoon. Facing a Pride team who was unbeaten on the season, SCSU scored an early goal and played the rest of the match without conceding, earning its first win on the season. Zinedine Kroeten (St. Louis Park, Minn.) scored the game's lone goal, his second on the season. Philip Caputo (Eagan, Minn.) and Mika Folstad (St. Paul, Minn.) earned assists on the goal due to their roles on the buildup play that led to the goal. The stout defensive effort was led by goalkeeper Dylan De Baldo (Vancouver, Wash.) who made four saves and earned his third clean sheet of the season. The starting back six of [defenders] Noah Eklund (Andover, Minn.), Juan Villegas (Miami, Fla.), Vukota Mastilovic (Belgrade, Serbia), Owen Worsdell (Brighton, England) and [midfielders] Nolan Pratumwon (Mahtomedi, Minn.) and Andrew Holmes (St. Cloud, Minn.) along with substitute Evan Stearns (Thornton, Colo.) worked together to limit PNW's chances and hold on to the shutout.
SERIES HISTORY
The Huskies have played Northern Michigan four times over the past two seasons. Last season, SCSU dropped both of its matches to the Wildcats 3-0 and 4-2. The Huskies hold a 1-3-0 all-time record against NMU and the lone win came in the team's first ever matchup in 2021.
SCOUTING NORTHERN MICHIGAN
The Wildcats, led by second-year head coach Alex Fatovic, are coming off a 5-8-4 season in which they finished fifth in the GLIAC regular season standing with a 4-5-3 record. They fell in the first round of the GLIAC tournament to Purdue Northwest, 2-0. This year, NMU was picked to finish fifth in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll and holds a record of 2-6-1 overall and 1-3-0 in GLIAC play. NMU started GLIAC play with a 1-0 win over Davenport but is currently on a four-game skid in which it has lost each match 1-0.
