Four different Huskies score, SCSU improves unbeaten streak to six games
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (7-2-4, 4-1-4 NSIC) scored a season-high four goals in a 4-0 victory over MSU Moorhead (1-10-2, 1-7-1 NSIC) on Friday night at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud. Four different Huskies found the back of the net in the game while the Husky defense limited the Dragon offense to no shots on goal or corner kicks throughout the entire game.
TURNING POINT
The Huskies jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute when freshman defender Izzy Halunen (Woodbury, Minn.) and junior forward Ellie Primerano (St. Joseph, Mich.) connected for the game's first score. Halunen started the end-to-end play by moving the ball out of the Huskies defense end and towards middle field, kicking up a beautiful pass up the left side to a streaking Primerano, who ran past the Moorhead defense, made one defender miss and finished a shot with her left foot for the score. Then, just seven minutes later, sophomore defender Grace Olson (West Des Moines, Iowa) let a 35-yard shot rip from the middle of the field, beating the goalie high for the score and 2-0 lead.
In the second half, the Huskies got goals from freshman forward Gabby Hofeld (St. Paul, Minn.) and sophomore forward Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.) in the 79th and 82nd minutes, respectively, to put the game away for the Huskies.
