Quam scores in 53rd minute to lift Huskies to victory

MARSHALL, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (9-2-4, 6-1-4 NSIC) earned its third consecutive win and moved its unbeaten streak to eight with a 1-0 win over Southwest Minnesota State (1-12-1, 1-8-1 NSIC) on Friday night in Marshall, Minn. Junior midfielder Brooke Quam (Lakeville, Minn.) scored the game's lone goal in the 53^rd minute to lift the Huskies to victory, while redshirt junior Meriel Orham (St. Michael, Minn.) registered her sixth shutout of the season.

TURNING POINT

Despite recording 12 shots in the first half, the Huskies went into the halftime break scoreless at 0-0. The game didn't stay scoreless for long in the second half, however, as Quam scored on an assist from junior forward Ellie Primerano (St. Joseph, Mich.) to give the Huskies the lead for good.

TOP HUSKIES

Quam's game-winning goal was her second of the season.
Primerano recorded an assist to move into a tie for the team-lead with three assists.
Orham made four saves and recorded her sixth shutout this season.

NOTES

With the win, SCSU moves to 16-10-4 all-time against Southwest Minnesota State.
The Huskies unbeaten streak moves to eight consecutive games, where they are 4-0-4 in their last eight games. The Huskies are also now 9-1-4 in their last 12 games.
SCSU is one win or tie away from matching its program record in unbeaten streak at nine, a mark it has reached in 1995, 2011 and 2023.
SCSU led shots on goal, 11-4, and corner kicks, 11-3.
Quam's goal was her second of the season, fifth of her career and second career game-winning goal.
Primerano recorded her third assist of the season and now has 34 career points, as she moves to 12^th on SCSU's all-time scoring list.
Orham earned his sixth shutout of the season, moving to seventh on the single season program list.

SCSU will now face Sioux Falls in its final road game of the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1:00 p.m. CT.
