
No. 1 Ranked St. Cloud State Wrestling Produces Seven Champions at Luther College Open

Huskies place 28 Wrestlers
Decorah, IA. No. 1 St. Cloud State Wrestling returned to action Saturday morning as they participated in the Luther College Open. The Huskies captured seven titles, with six coming at the elite division, and place 28 total wrestlers during the event.
In the elite division, Dominic Ducato, Sam Spencer, Joel Jesuroga, Bryce FitzPatrick, Dominic Murphy, and La'Ron Parks all captured titles.
At 125, Ducato earned a title for the second straight weekend as he totaled four bonus point victories in five matches, Ducato recorded two falls and two technical falls including a tech fall against Dalton Whitehall where he won 19-4 in the first-place match.
At 133, Sam Spencer also won a title for the second straight weekend with two bonus point victories in five matches. Spencer captured a 4-1 sudden victory against Marcus Terry in the semifinals and then beat teammate Caleb Meekins 10-2 in the first-place match.
At 157, Joel Jesuroga earned his first title of the season with two bonus point victories on the day. Jesuroga also won 4-1 in sudden victory in the semifinals with a win against Cole Hansen. He followed that up with a 9-8 decision victory against Paolo Salminen to win the title.
Wrestling at 184, No. 6 ranked Bryce FitzPatrick captured two bonus point victories on his way to a title. FitzPatrick reached the quarterfinals after a fall against Cole Carlucci and then rattled off three decision victories including a 6-3 win against Kasey Ross to secure the title.
At 197, No. 4 ranked Dominic Murphy recorded two bonus point victories with both being technical falls. Reaching the first-place match off a medical forfeit, Murphy beat Sawyer Bartelt 3-1 in sudden victory to take the title.
Wrestling at 285, No. 2 ranked La'Ron Parks won his second consecutive open title after one bonus point victory. Parks reached the semifinals after a 7-2 decision victory against Clayton Ours. He then advanced to the first-place match after an injury default against Cullen Quick. Parks would matchup with teammate Jadon Mims where it was deemed a no-contest.
Outside of the six wrestlers that earned titles in the elite division, 12 other Huskies placed including Nolan Throne (3rd, 149), Colton Bornholdt (4th, 157), Archer Heelan (6th, 125), Caleb Meekins (2nd 133), Gabriel Smith (4th, 165), Nick Novak (2nd, 165), Derek Johnson (6th, 165), Bryce Dagel (6th, 174), Cole Glazier (2nd, 174), Alyeus Craig (3rd, 141), Jadon Mims (2nd, 285), and Donnie Hidden (6th, 285).
At the silver division, Nathan Fury earned the lone title for the Huskies at 197. Fury racked up four bonus point victories with two falls and technical falls. In the first-place match, Fury earned a 21-6 tech fall against Derrick Steinke to earn the title.
Outside of Fury, 9 other wrestlers placed in the silver division including Augustus Donovan (3rd, 165), Jayce Luna (3rd, 141), Dominic Mann (3rd, 174), Austin Grzywinski (5th, 125), Leo Edblad (7th, 125), Vance Barz (6th, 149), Brendan Lockart (4th, 197), Jeroen Smith (5th, 157), and Patrick Kubisa (4th, 157).
