No. 8/9 St. Cloud State Women’s Hockey Drops Final Game of 2024

Huskies fall to No. 4 Minnesota Duluth, 3-1
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 8/9 St. Cloud State Women's Hockey (10-6-4, 5-6-3 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) fell in its final game of 2024 to No. 4 Minnesota Duluth on Saturday afternoon at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.
The Huskies scored first after senior defender Taylor Larson (Nisswa, Minn.) crashed the front of the net to finish a shot by sophomore forward Alice Sauriol (Sherbrooke, Quebec) that was deflected off the pads of the Minnesota Duluth (11-5-2, 8-4-2 WCHA) goaltender. The game remained 1-0 until the third period when the Bulldogs added three goals including a shorthanded goal and an empty netter to bring the game to its 3-1 final score.

The Huskies are off for over a month and will return on Friday-Saturday January 10-11 with a trip to Duluth to face the Bulldogs again. - Larson scored the Huskies lone goal and put the second most shots on target (four) for the Huskies.
- Sauriol assisted Larson's goal and put all three of her shots on target.
- Fifth year forward Emma Gentry (Alpena, Mich.) posted a team high six shots on goal and went 12-7 on the faceoff dot.
- Senior defender Dayle Ross (Spirit River, Alberta) blocked a game high four shots.
- SCSU moves to 15-88-12 all-time against Minnesota Duluth and 10-36-7 all-time in St. Cloud against the Bulldogs.
- The Huskies led the game in blocks (13-5). Minnesota Duluth led in shots (29-28), saves (27-26) and faceoff wins (24-19).
- SCSU's powerplay went 0-for-3 for the fourth game in a row. The Huskies killed off two of the three penalties they took.
- Larson's goal was the fifth of her career.
- Sauriol's assist was her 10th point of the season, making her the team's new points leader.
- Gentry has won 10+ faceoffs in 11 games this season.
- Senior defender Grace Wolfe (Owatonna, Minn.) blocked two shots and was the only Husky to skate to a +1 mark.
- Sophomore forward Greta Henderson (Regina, Saskatchewan) tallied three blocks, doubling her total for the season. It was her 50th career game.
- Junior defender Regan Bulger (Yellowknife, Northwest Territories) also skated in her 50th career game.
