Sundelin’s Late Game Winner Completes No. 11 Huskies Comeback Win Over Bemidji State

St. Cloud State overcame two-goal deficit, picked up a 3-2 win over the Beavers for first series sweep since Oct. 11-12
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 11 St. Cloud State Women's Hockey (12-8-4, 7-8-3 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) overcame a two-goal deficit to beat Bemidji State, 3-2 in a WCHA game on Saturday afternoon at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud. Sophomore forward Sofianna Sundelin (Ulvila, Finland) delivered the game-clinching goal with just over a minute left in the game.
Bemidji State (4-20-1, 2-16-0 WCHA) took its first lead of the series in the first period before adding a second goal just 2:45 into the second period. SCSU responded with two power play goals late in the second period. Freshman defender Siiri Yrjölä (Vantaa, Finland) scored her second career goal in as many games and sophomore forward Laura Zimmermann (Ringgenberg, Switzerland) recorded her first power play goal of the season to tie the game.
With the game looking like it was bound for overtime, sophomore forward Alice Sauriol (Sherbrooke, Quebec) made a long a pass to Sundelin, who split the BSU defenders and beat the BSU goalie one-on-one, with a forehand, backhand goal with just 1:09 left in the game.

- SCSU improves to 56-51-10 all-time against Bemidji State and 29-24-6 all-time in St. Cloud against the Beavers. The Huskies swept the season series against BSU this season (4-0-0) and are 12-0-0 in the last 12 games.
- The Huskies led the game in shots (21-11) and Bemidji State led in faceoff wins (25-22), saves (18-9) and blocked shots (11-5).
- SCSU picked up its first series sweep since Oct. 11-12 (at Bemidji State) and fourth of the season (Bemidji State – twice, Mercyhurst and Lindenwood)
- The Huskies scored three goals in back-to-back games for the first time since the season-opening series at Lindenwood (Sept. 21-22)

- Sundelin scored a goal for the second consecutive game and recorded the second game-winning goal of her season/career. She is tied for the team lead in game-winning goals (two) and second on the team in goals (five) and points (12). She won 10+ draws for the third time this season. It was her 60th career game.
- Sauriol recorded her fifth multi-point game of the season (second consecutive). She tallied points on eight of nine SCSU goals against the Beavers this season (two goals / six assists) and extended her team lead in assists (12) and points (15). It was her 60th career game.
- Ross posted the first multi-assist game of her career and fourth multi-point game of her career. She leads the team in +/- this season (+6). It was her 130th career game.
- Zimmerman scored her first power play goal of the season and second of her career.
- Yrjölä scored her second career goal in as many games (both goals came on the power play). She set a new career high for shots on goal in a game (three). It was her 20th career game.
- Senior defender Grace Wolfe (Owatonna, Minn) posted her fourth assist of the season and skated in her 105th career game.
- Sophomore defender Carmen Bray (Nanaimo, British Columbia) recorded her third assist of the season and fifth career point. It was her 40th career game.
- Fifth year forward Emma Gentry (Alpena, Mich.) skated in her 130th career game.
