(RV) St. Thomas Erases Two-Goal Third Period Deficit, Defeats No. 10 St. Cloud State Women’s Hockey in Overtime

Huskies drop series finale 4-3 in second straight overtime game
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 10 St. Cloud State Women's Hockey (4-4-0, 1-3-0 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) dropped its series finale against (RV) St. Thomas 4-3 in overtime on Saturday afternoon at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud. The Huskies held a 3-1 lead early in the third period but conceded three straight goals in the defeat.
For the second game in a row, the Tommies (6-2-0, 2-2-0 WCHA) got on the scoresheet first after scoring a power play goal eight minutes into the first period.
UST took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, but the Huskies responded in the second period, scoring two unanswered goals to take their first lead of the game. Both SCSU goals came on 2-on-1 opportunities – junior forward Alice Sauriol (Sherbrooke, Quebec) used her backhand to put away the first goal and freshman forward Julianne Labbé (Wendake, Quebec) deflected a pass from junior forward Payton Holloway (Tomah, Wis.) for the second.
The Huskies travel to Columbus, Ohio next weekend for a series against No. 2 Ohio State (5-0-0, 3-0-0 WCHA). Puck drop on Friday is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT, while the series will wrap up from the OSU Ice Rink on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT. The Huskies added a third goal 3:15 into the third period to take a commanding 3-1 lead after junior forward Sofianna Sundelin (Ulvila, Finland) put away a one-timer from the slot, but St. Thomas responded with a pair of unanswered goals to tie the game including its second power play tally of the game. The Tommies would go on to score its third straight goal – a sudden victory goal 37 seconds into overtime.

- Sauriol recorded two points (1 goal/1 assist) and was named the game's third star.
- Sundelin posted two points (1 goal/1 assist).
- Labbé scored the Huskies third goal.
- SCSU moved to 12-5-2 all-time against St. Thomas and 8-2-1 all-time against the Tommies at home.
- The Huskies moved to 2-4-0 this season against teams ranked/receiving votes, 3-2-0 in home games and 1-1-0 in overtime games.

- Labbé scored her first goal in five games and now has five points this season. Her three goals are third most on the team.
- Redshirt sophomore goaltender Paige Hoogendam (Ajax, Ontario) made 17 saves in her first collegiate start.
- Graduate defender Grace Wolfe (Owatonna, Minn.) recorded her fifth assist of the season and the 35th of her career. She is now tied for second on the team in assists this season and her six points rank fourth on the team. It was her 125th game.
- Junior forward Sidney Jackel (Ann Arbor, Mich.) tallied her 15th career assist and 25th career point.
- Holloway's assist was the fifth of her career.
