SCSU Swim & Dive Opens 2025-26 Season at Northern Michigan

Huskies to compete against Northern Michigan, Davenport and Lake Superior State
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Swim & Dive is slated to begin the 2025-26 season this weekend at Northern Michigan in Marquette, Mich. The Huskies will compete against Northern Michigan, Davenport and Lake Superior State.
FOLLOW THE HUSKIES
The meet will consist of two sessions on Friday, Oct. 3, with the first at 10:00 a.m. CT and the second at 4:30 p.m. CT, followed by one session at 10:00 a.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 4 at the PEIF Pool. Admission is free to the public.
MEN'S PREVIEW
The SCSU men are coming off an eighth-place finish at the 2025 NCAA Championships, its highest finish in program history. The men's team finished with 159 points and had 12 All-America performances, eight in individual events and four in relays.
Among the six individuals who earned All-America recognition last season, five return for the Huskies in 2025-26. Senior Mason Beck (Dickinson, N.D.) returns for his final collegiate season after individual All-America performances in the 50-yard freestyle (ninth) and 100-yard freestyle) and relay All-America performances in four events. Lance Godard Junior Lance Godard (Lee's Summit, Mo.) earned first team All-America honors in the 100-yard butterfly (seventh) and second team All-America honors (ninth) in the 200-yard butterfly.
On the diving board, junior Jimmy Nord (Chisago City, Minn.) leads the group after a first team All-America honor in the 1-meter dive (eighth) and second team All-America honors in the 3-meter dive (12th).
WOMEN'S PREVIEW
The Women's Swim & Dive team was selected to finish third in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Preseason Coaches' Poll with sophomore Hallie Drossel (Melrose, Minn.) named the NSIC Preseason Swimmer of the Year. Drossel was joined by sophomore diver Abriella Werner (Soldotna, Alaska) as the 2025-26 Athletes to Watch.
The Huskies received 68 points and one first-place vote in the poll, finishing behind preseason favorite Minnesota State (77 points, six first-place votes) and Augustana (74 points, three first-place votes). Selected to finish fourth behind SCSU was Concordia-St. Paul (51), Sioux Falls (44), MSU Moorhead (39), UMary (38), Southwest Minnesota State (31), Jamestown (16) and Northern State (12).
Drossel returns for her sophomore campaign after a stellar debut season where she qualified for the 2025 NCAA Championships in the 100-yard breaststroke, posting a personal-best time of 1:02.87 while finishing 25th. She finished runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke at the 2025 NSIC Championships, earning All-NSIC honors. Drossel also won the 100-yard breaststroke at the Rochester Invite with a time of 1:02.89 and posted a personal best time of 2:27.26 in the 200-yard breaststroke at the 2025 NSIC Championships.
Werner also impressed in her freshman campaign for the Huskies, qualifying for the 1M and 3M dives at the 2025 NCAA Championships where she finished 21st and 22nd, respectively. At the NSIC meet, she finished seventh in the 1M dive and ninth in the 3M dive. She posted her personal-best score in the 3M dive at the NSIC Championships with a score of 356.5.
