Huskies continue conference play with 1-0 start
St. Cloud, MN. – St. Cloud State Men's Basketball (3-3, 1-0 NSIC) continue Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play this week as they travel to No. 21 Concordia-St. Paul on Wednesday, December 3 before hosting Winona State on Saturday, December 6 at Halenbeck Hall. Wednesday's game will tipoff at 5:30 p.m. while Saturday's game is set for 2:00 p.m.

Hard-Nosed Defense Props Huskies to Conference Opening Win over Minnesota State- Tuesday, November 25
The first six minutes of the game was a defensive battle as neither team could find an offensive rhythm. A three-pointer by Azayah Washington gave St. Cloud State a narrow 9-6 lead at the 13:28 mark of the first half. The two teams continued to trade buckets as SCSU led 15-12 with 9:46 left in the half. Bob Griechen then checked in for the Huskies and served as a major spark plug on the offensive end. Griechen scored the next six points for SCSU with all coming in the paint. The bully ball spurt by Griechen served as a 6-2 run and led to a timeout from Mankato as St. Cloud State now led by seven points. SCSU held that lead for the remainder of the half as they went into the break leading 28-22 with Griechen accounting for eight points.
Out of the break, the Huskies maintained their lead as they held a 32-26 advantage at the 15:47 mark of the second half. Continuing to be a catalyst, Griechen went on a 7-2 run as a three pointer on the wing pushed the lead up to 11 points. Following a defensive stop, Anish Ramlall collapsed the paint and dished it out to an open Will Brands in the corner who cashed a three, putting SCSU up 14 with 11:54 remaining. The Huskies continued to hum offensively as they shot 48.3% from the field in the second half. St. Cloud State would lead by 12+ points the remainder of the game with their biggest lead spotting at 23 points. SCSU would go on to win 73-53 as they blanketed the Mavericks' offense in their conference opening win.

Winkel Scores 25 as Huskies Take Down Minnesota Crookston 83-68- Saturday, November 29
St. Cloud State burst out of the gates with a quick 5-0 run. Luke Winkel scored the next eight points for the Huskies as the game would be tied at 13 at the first media timeout. The Golden Eagles were on fire from deep as they made four of their first six three-point attempts. They took a 17-13 lead at the 13:39 mark of the first half following a three-pointer by Donez Lindsey. The Huskies started to take control from that point as a layup by Wyatt Hawks capped off a 19-4 run as SCSU took an 11-point lead. Strong defensive play by the Huskies was crucial during the run as they held Crookston to zero field goals made for over seven minutes of action. The Golden Eagles chipped into the SCSU lead at the end of the half, but the Huskies still led 40-34 at the break.
The second half opened as a back-and-forth affair, but St. Cloud State's relentless pressure on the rim got them in the bonus early where they took advantage at the free throw line. The Huskies attempted 25 free throws in the second half and connected on 18 of those shots. Forcing another long scoreless drought on the defensive end, the Huskies were able to take command of the game as a layup by Winkel put SCSU up 55-42 at the 14:02 mark of the second half. St. Cloud State led by 8+ points the remainder of the game with their biggest lead being 19 points. SCSU ultimately came away with an 83-68 victory in their home opener at Halenbeck Hall.

With six blocks this past weekend, junior Wyatt Hawks continues to rise the rankings in career blocks at St. Cloud State. With 10 blocks on the year (1.7 per game), Hawks is up to 63 career blocks during his tenure with the Huskies. He is currently 15th all-time and is 12 blocks away from cracking into the top 10.

Huskies Unable to Stop Golden Bears Offensive Eruption, Fall 115-104- November 14, 2024
Both teams got off to fast starts as a dunk by Wyatt Hawks tied the game at 18 with 12:29 left in the half. From that point, the Golden Bears went on a quick 16-3 run to take a 34-21 lead. Despite the double-digit deficit, the Huskies clawed back into the game as a putback dunk by Hawks brought St. Cloud State within two points with 5:11 remaining in the half. The two teams continued to trade punches until CSP ended the half on a 10-0 run in the final 1:32 of the half to take a 59-46 lead at the break. The offensive fireworks continued into the second half as neither team slowed their pace from the first half. A inbounds steal and layup by Lee Marks III got the Huskies within eight points at the 13:03 mark of the second half, but St. Cloud State was unable to get any closer in the game as they would ultimately fall 115-104 to Concordia-St. Paul. Antwan Kimmons of CSP fell three points shy of breaking the school record for points in a single game with 43 points. The Huskies were unable to stop the Golden Bears offense as they shot 62.1% from the field and 52% from three-point range.

Winkel's Career-Night Props Huskies in Big Win Over RV Concordia-St. Paul- January 8, 2025
The first five minutes of the game were tightly contested as neither team could take control of the game. The Huskies started to grab momentum after Wyatt Hawks threw down a dunk to put the Huskies up two. A jumper by Kynan Philippe capped off a 6-1 run as St. Cloud State held a five-point lead. SCSU steadily held that lead for the next few minutes before a vicious dunk by Hawks sparked the start of a big run. The big man forced a steal on the defensive end and then nailed a jumper to push the lead to eight points. The Huskies forced another steal following a timeout as Luke Winkel picked up the loose change and took it the distance for a layup to extend the lead to 10 points. Antwan Kimmons started to cut in the lead as he knocked down two free throws for CSP, but Nathan Bunkosky rang in a big three to push the lead back up to double-digits. Winkel cashed a jumper with 6:11 left in the half as St. Cloud State led by 11 points. From that point, the Golden Bears had a strong close to the half as 13-4 run set the score at 38-34 going into the break. CSP came down and finished a layup, but Anish Ramlall responded with another three for SCSU. The Huskies forced a miss on the defensive end before Lee Marks III grabbed an offensive rebound off a Winkel miss and put it back up while getting fouled for the and-one. Marks converted the free throw to put the Huskies up by nine points. St. Cloud State held a multiple-possession for the next 10+ minutes before the Golden Bears roared back as a three-pointer by Reid Patterson set the score at 81-78. Having newly found momentum, the Golden Bears finished a layup as they now only trailed by one-point with 3:12 left in the game. Free throws by Winkel and Nate Dahl pushed the Huskies lead back up to four points with 2:40 remaining, but CSP finished another layup almost instantly. A miss by the Huskies and key offensive rebounds by the Golden Bears ultimately led to Patterson tying the game with 1:44 left in the game following a jumper. On the ensuing offensive possession for SCSU, Hawks knocked down a big jumper to give the Huskies a two-point lead with 1:13 remaining. CSP missed a three-pointer on their possession as Winkel came up big on the offensive end as he finished a layup with 31 seconds left to put SCSU up four. Antwan Kimmons would split a pair of free throws, missing the second as Morgan got fouled with 15 seconds left. Morgan also split his free throws as Patterson drilled a three with 10 seconds remaining as CSP now only trailed by one. Winkel would then get fouled with seven seconds left and came up clutch by making both attempts. Now up by three-points, the Huskies played the foul game as they prohibited CSP from tying the game on a three. Kimmons went to the line and made the first, but missed the second as Winkel came up with the rebound. Winkel was again clutch at the line as two free throw makes put SCSU up four with three seconds remaining. The Golden Bears miss fired on a three on their final possession as the Huskies came away with a big 93-89 victory over RV Concordia-St. Paul.

Huskies Pull Off Gritty 93-87 OT Victory Against RV Winona State- January 17, 2025
The Huskies got off to a strong start as a layup by Wyatt Hawks gave SCSU an early 8-0 lead. Winona State slowly started to chip away as they knocked down a three-pointer to tie the game at 16 at the 10:48 mark of the first half. From that point, the teams were tightly contested through the next five minutes before Luke Winkel capped off an 8-0 with a three-pointer to put the Huskies up 33-25 with 4:40 remaining in the half. The Warriors were able to cut the lead down to four points late in the half until Lucas Morgan got hot from three as he cashed three triples in the final 2:01 in the half. Morgan banged home a three with seven seconds left in the half to put St. Cloud State up 47-34 headed into the break.
The Huskies held all the momentum headed into the break, but Winona State started the half on a 13-0 to tie the game back up at 47. Neither team was able to take control for most of the second half as the game would be tied at 67 at the 4:13 mark of the second half. Winona State then embarked on a 12-2 over the next three minutes to lead 79-69 with 1:18 left in the game as it was looking out of reach for the Huskies. With 52 seconds left, Kynan Philippe thought otherwise as he drilled a three off an assist by Morgan which led to a Huskies timeout. SCSU fouled WSU on their possession as they split a pair of free throws to now lead 80-72. Nate Dahl came charging down the lane and finished inside while drawing a foul. Dahl converted the and-one for the Huskies as the lead was down to five points. The Warriors then inbounded the ball only for Lee Marks III to come away with a steal and score after St. Cloud State trapped Connor Drew in the backcourt. The lead was cut down to three points before SCSU fouled and Winona State again split a pair of free throws. With time starting to tick away, Anish Ramlall came up clutch for the Huskies as he splashed a three off an assist from Dahl to cut the lead down to one with 28 seconds remaining. St. Cloud State again fouled and Winona State again split a pair of free throws to lead by two points. With 13 seconds remaining, Dahl drove into the lane and would be fouled on his layup attempt. Dahl knocked in both attempts to tie the game at 82 points with Winona State having the final possession. To win the game, Isaiah Thompson missed a three, but the Warriors grabbed the offensive rebound. They were unable to get a second shot as the game headed to overtime as St. Cloud State went on a 13-3 run in the final 52 seconds. Overtime started slow for both teams as a free throw for the Warriors gave them an 85-84 lead with 1:51 left in extra time. On the ensuing offensive possession for St. Cloud State, Philippe came up big with a three to give SCSU an 87-85 lead. Winona State turned the ball over on their possession as Ramlall came away with the steal. On the offensive end, Wyatt Hawks backed down his defender and finished inside to put St. Cloud State up four points with 1:04 left. A free throw by Ramlall put up five, but Winona State would knock down a pair of free throws after a loose ball fall on SCSU. With the ball and 22 seconds left in the game, the shot clock started to tick down as Ramlall had the ball in his hands. He drove into the lane and with three Warriors collapsing on him finished an incredible layup where he switched to his left hand mid air. The clutch layup by Ramlall put the Huskies up five. SCSU put the game away on the defensive end as the Warriors missed multiple threes as St. Cloud State came away with a big 93-87 OT win against RV Winona State.

Second Half Scorch Props Huskies over No. 23 Winona State 70-65- February 2, 2025
The defense of St. Cloud State got off to a strong start as they held the Warriors scoreless through the first six and a half minutes of the game to lead 4-0. Following the first field goal by WSU, the teams battled back and forth for the next nine minutes of the half as Winona State held a 21-19 lead with 4:21 left in the half. Luke Winkel would tie the game up with a layup and then SCSU would take the lead off a three by Kynan Philippe. The Huskies kept it rolling on both ends as following a defensive stop, Wyatt Hawks put back a layup off an offensive rebound. Another miss by the Warriors led to a big three by Anish Ramlall as he capped off the 10-0 run. St. Cloud State ultimately went into halftime leading 31-24.
The Huskies came out of halftime on fire from three as they made their first six shots from beyond the arc. A triple by Philippe put SCSU up 51-41 with 11:37 left in the half. SCSU continued to hum on both ends as a layup by Ramlall extended the lead to 18 with 5:36 left in the game. From that layup, everything then began to click for the Warriors as a 16-0 run cut the deficit down to two points with 32 seconds remaining. WSU would foul and send Philippe to the line with 23 seconds remaining. The Australian came up big with two makes to push the lead up to four. Coming out of a timeout by SCSU, Luke Haertle missed a three that was collected by Winkel who would be fouled. The freshman also came up big at the line as he extended the lead to multiple possessions with two makes as there was now nine seconds left in the game. A bucket by Winona with three seconds left led to more free throws by Winkel. He ultimately sealed the game with a make as St. Cloud State came away with a 70-65 win against No. 23 Winona State. The Huskies were on fire from deep in the second half as they connected on eight on their 13 three-point attempts while shooting 54.2% from the field.

Scouting Concordia-St. Paul
The Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears come into this matchup holding a 6-1 record with wins against Nebraska-Kearney, Fort Hays State, Winona State, Drury, Jamestown, and MSU Moorhead. CSP is coming off a 2024-25 campaign where they went 22-9 with a 16-6 mark in conference play to finish tied for first in the NSIC. The Golden Bears lost to Minot State in the quarterfinals of the NSIC Tournament but still reached the NCAA Tournament. CSP took down Minot State before falling to Washburn in the region semifinals. Coming into this season, the Golden Bears were projected to finish fourth in the NSIC and are currently ranked 21 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Poll.
The offseason saw CSP graduate all three of their All-Conference Honorees including Antwana Kimmons, Marcus Skeete, and Cade Meyer. Kimmons captured a plethora of awards for the Golden Bears last year including First Team All-America, Central Region Player of the Year, NSIC Player of the Year, and First Team All-NSIC. Skeete was named First Team All-NSIC while Meyer was Second Team.
This season, CSP is led by junior guard Ben Kopetzki who is averaging 20.4 points on 43.1% shooting from the field. After averaging 13.5 points last season, Kopetzki has taken a step forward in his expanded role. Three other Golden Bears are scoring in double figures including Owen Carlson, Reid Patterson, and Sam West. Carlson leads that trio with 15.9 points per game while shooting 57.1% from the field and 55.6% from three off the bench. Patterson is at 11.3 points and is shooting 41.9% from three. West transferred from Minot State where he was a key starter for the Beavers last season. He leads CSP in assists (5.3) and is second in rebounds with 5.6 while scoring 11.1 points per game.
Head Coach Matt Fletcher enters his sixth season with Concordia-St. Paul in the 2025-26 season. Fletcher holds a 44-85 mark with the Golden Bears but has seen a jump in wins every season. This past year, he was named NSIC Coach of the Year after CSP won the NSIC regular season title.
Scouting Winona State
The Winona State Warriors come into this game holding a 1-5 record with their lone win coming against Southern Arkansas State. Last season, WSU compiled a 22-11 record to finish seventh in the NSIC. The Warriors reached the semifinals of the NSIC Tournament before falling to MSU Moorhead. Winona State ultimately reached the NCAA Tournament and picked up a win against Southwest Minnesota State before again being defeated by MSU Moorhead. Winona State came into this season projected to finish ninth in the NSIC.
This season will see many new faces for the Warriors as they graduated three starters and lost another to the transfer portal. Isaiah Thompson, Connor Drew, and Jhei-R Jones all graduated while Luke Haertle transferred to South Dakota State. Thompson and Drew earned Second Team All-NSIC while Haertle was NSIC Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-NSIC.
Through six games, two Warriors score in double figures in Ryan Heise and Gavyn Hurley. Heise leads the team in scoring with 13.8 points on 53.6% from the field and 41.7% from three. Hurley is scoring 12.8 points on shooting splits of 58.8% from the field and 40% from downtown. He leads the team in rebounding with 6.0 per game.
Head Coach Todd Eisner enters his 11th season with Winona State in the 2025-26 season. Eisner holds a 159-123 record during his tenure and has exceeded 15+ wins in seven of his nine full seasons.

Free throws by Winkel and Nate Dahl pushed the Huskies lead back up to four points with 2:40 remaining, but CSP finished another layup almost instantly. A miss by the Huskies and key offensive rebounds by the Golden Bears ultimately led to Patterson tying the game with 1:44 left in the game following a jumper. On the ensuing offensive possession for SCSU, Hawks knocked down a big jumper to give the Huskies a two-point lead with 1:13 remaining. CSP missed a three-pointer on their possession as Winkel came up big on the offensive end as he finished a layup with 31 seconds left to put SCSU up four. Antwan Kimmons would split a pair of free throws, missing the second as Morgan got fouled with 15 seconds left. Morgan also split his free throws as Patterson drilled a three with 10 seconds remaining as CSP now only trailed by one. Winkel would then get fouled with seven seconds left and came up clutch by making both attempts. Now up by three-points, the Huskies played the foul game as they prohibited CSP from tying the game on a three. Kimmons went to the line and made the first, but missed the second as Winkel came up with the rebound. Winkel was again clutch at the line as two free throw makes put SCSU up four with three seconds remaining. The Golden Bears miss fired on a three on their final possession as the Huskies came away with a big 93-89 victory over RV Concordia-St. Paul.

- Luke Winkel had a career evening as he posted career highs in points, assists, and field goals made while tying his career-high in rebounds in his first career start. Winkel posted 24 points on an efficient 8/14 shooting while dishing eight assists and grabbing five rebounds. He also made eight of his 10 free throws while recording a steal. He has scored 13+ points in five consecutive games.
- Wyatt Hawks controlled the paint as he tallied 19 points on 8/12 shooting while grabbing seven rebounds. Hawks also blocked two shots and recorded three stocks on the evening. This was Hawks' eighth game scoring double-digit points this season.
- Anish Ramlall scored 14 points while making three three-pointers. Ramlall also went 5/6 from the free throw line while shooting 3/5 from the field. This was Ramlall's second game this season where he has cashed 3+ threes.
Huskies Pull Off Gritty 93-87 OT Victory Against RV Winona State- January 17, 2025
The Huskies got off to a strong start as a layup by Wyatt Hawks gave SCSU an early 8-0 lead. Winona State slowly started to chip away as they knocked down a three-pointer to tie the game at 16 at the 10:48 mark of the first half. From that point, the teams were tightly contested through the next five minutes before Luke Winkel capped off an 8-0 with a three-pointer to put the Huskies up 33-25 with 4:40 remaining in the half. The Warriors were able to cut the lead down to four points late in the half until Lucas Morgan got hot from three as he cashed three triples in the final 2:01 in the half. Morgan banged home a three with seven seconds left in the half to put St. Cloud State up 47-34 headed into the break.
The Huskies held all the momentum headed into the break, but Winona State started the half on a 13-0 to tie the game back up at 47. Neither team was able to take control for most of the second half as the game would be tied at 67 at the 4:13 mark of the second half. Winona State then embarked on a 12-2 over the next three minutes to lead 79-69 with 1:18 left in the game as it was looking out of reach for the Huskies. With 52 seconds left, Kynan Philippe thought otherwise as he drilled a three off an assist by Morgan which led to a Huskies timeout. SCSU fouled WSU on their possession as they split a pair of free throws to now lead 80-72. Nate Dahl came charging down the lane and finished inside while drawing a foul. Dahl converted the and-one for the Huskies as the lead was down to five points. The Warriors then inbounded the ball only for Lee Marks III to come away with a steal and score after St. Cloud State trapped Connor Drew in the backcourt. The lead was cut down to three points before SCSU fouled and Winona State again split a pair of free throws. With time starting to tick away, Anish Ramlall came up clutch for the Huskies as he splashed a three off an assist from Dahl to cut the lead down to one with 28 seconds remaining. St. Cloud State again fouled and Winona State again split a pair of free throws to lead by two points. With 13 seconds remaining, Dahl drove into the lane and would be fouled on his layup attempt. Dahl knocked in both attempts to tie the game at 82 points with Winona State having the final possession. To win the game, Isaiah Thompson missed a three, but the Warriors grabbed the offensive rebound. They were unable to get a second shot as the game headed to overtime as St. Cloud State went on a 13-3 run in the final 52 seconds. Overtime started slow for both teams as a free throw for the Warriors gave them an 85-84 lead with 1:51 left in extra time. On the ensuing offensive possession for St. Cloud State, Philippe came up big with a three to give SCSU an 87-85 lead. Winona State turned the ball over on their possession as Ramlall came away with the steal. On the offensive end, Wyatt Hawks backed down his defender and finished inside to put St. Cloud State up four points with 1:04 left. A free throw by Ramlall put up five, but Winona State would knock down a pair of free throws after a loose ball fall on SCSU. With the ball and 22 seconds left in the game, the shot clock started to tick down as Ramlall had the ball in his hands. He drove into the lane and with three Warriors collapsing on him finished an incredible layup where he switched to his left hand mid air. The clutch layup by Ramlall put the Huskies up five. SCSU put the game away on the defensive end as the Warriors missed multiple threes as St. Cloud State came away with a big 93-87 OT win against RV Winona State.

- Nate Dahl stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. Dahl made two three-pointers while going 4/5 from the free throw line.
- Lucas Morgan scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds. He shot an efficient 7/13 from the field while making three three-pointers. Morgan also dished out two assists and tallied a block.
- Wyatt Hawks nearly totaled a double-double with 15 points and eight rebounds. Hawks shot 7/9 from the field.
Second Half Scorch Props Huskies over No. 23 Winona State 70-65- February 2, 2025
The defense of St. Cloud State got off to a strong start as they held the Warriors scoreless through the first six and a half minutes of the game to lead 4-0. Following the first field goal by WSU, the teams battled back and forth for the next nine minutes of the half as Winona State held a 21-19 lead with 4:21 left in the half. Luke Winkel would tie the game up with a layup and then SCSU would take the lead off a three by Kynan Philippe. The Huskies kept it rolling on both ends as following a defensive stop, Wyatt Hawks put back a layup off an offensive rebound. Another miss by the Warriors led to a big three by Anish Ramlall as he capped off the 10-0 run. St. Cloud State ultimately went into halftime leading 31-24.
The Huskies came out of halftime on fire from three as they made their first six shots from beyond the arc. A triple by Philippe put SCSU up 51-41 with 11:37 left in the half. SCSU continued to hum on both ends as a layup by Ramlall extended the lead to 18 with 5:36 left in the game. From that layup, everything then began to click for the Warriors as a 16-0 run cut the deficit down to two points with 32 seconds remaining. WSU would foul and send Philippe to the line with 23 seconds remaining. The Australian came up big with two makes to push the lead up to four. Coming out of a timeout by SCSU, Luke Haertle missed a three that was collected by Winkel who would be fouled. The freshman also came up big at the line as he extended the lead to multiple possessions with two makes as there was now nine seconds left in the game. A bucket by Winona with three seconds left led to more free throws by Winkel. He ultimately sealed the game with a make as St. Cloud State came away with a 70-65 win against No. 23 Winona State. The Huskies were on fire from deep in the second half as they connected on eight on their 13 three-point attempts while shooting 54.2% from the field.

- Kynan Philippe scored a career-high 18 points while tying his career-high in three-point makes with four. The Australian also grabbed seven rebounds. This was Philippe's third game with 4+ threes.
- Anish Ramlall was a spark plug off the bench as he tallied 14 points while tying his career-high in threes with four. Ramlall also grabbed five rebounds while shooting 5/11 from the field. This was his fifth game with 14+ points.
Scouting Concordia-St. Paul
The Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears come into this matchup holding a 6-1 record with wins against Nebraska-Kearney, Fort Hays State, Winona State, Drury, Jamestown, and MSU Moorhead. CSP is coming off a 2024-25 campaign where they went 22-9 with a 16-6 mark in conference play to finish tied for first in the NSIC. The Golden Bears lost to Minot State in the quarterfinals of the NSIC Tournament but still reached the NCAA Tournament. CSP took down Minot State before falling to Washburn in the region semifinals. Coming into this season, the Golden Bears were projected to finish fourth in the NSIC and are currently ranked 21 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Poll.
The offseason saw CSP graduate all three of their All-Conference Honorees including Antwana Kimmons, Marcus Skeete, and Cade Meyer. Kimmons captured a plethora of awards for the Golden Bears last year including First Team All-America, Central Region Player of the Year, NSIC Player of the Year, and First Team All-NSIC. Skeete was named First Team All-NSIC while Meyer was Second Team.
This season, CSP is led by junior guard Ben Kopetzki who is averaging 20.4 points on 43.1% shooting from the field. After averaging 13.5 points last season, Kopetzki has taken a step forward in his expanded role. Three other Golden Bears are scoring in double figures including Owen Carlson, Reid Patterson, and Sam West. Carlson leads that trio with 15.9 points per game while shooting 57.1% from the field and 55.6% from three off the bench. Patterson is at 11.3 points and is shooting 41.9% from three. West transferred from Minot State where he was a key starter for the Beavers last season. He leads CSP in assists (5.3) and is second in rebounds with 5.6 while scoring 11.1 points per game.
Head Coach Matt Fletcher enters his sixth season with Concordia-St. Paul in the 2025-26 season. Fletcher holds a 44-85 mark with the Golden Bears but has seen a jump in wins every season. This past year, he was named NSIC Coach of the Year after CSP won the NSIC regular season title.
Scouting Winona State
The Winona State Warriors come into this game holding a 1-5 record with their lone win coming against Southern Arkansas State. Last season, WSU compiled a 22-11 record to finish seventh in the NSIC. The Warriors reached the semifinals of the NSIC Tournament before falling to MSU Moorhead. Winona State ultimately reached the NCAA Tournament and picked up a win against Southwest Minnesota State before again being defeated by MSU Moorhead. Winona State came into this season projected to finish ninth in the NSIC.
This season will see many new faces for the Warriors as they graduated three starters and lost another to the transfer portal. Isaiah Thompson, Connor Drew, and Jhei-R Jones all graduated while Luke Haertle transferred to South Dakota State. Thompson and Drew earned Second Team All-NSIC while Haertle was NSIC Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-NSIC.
Through six games, two Warriors score in double figures in Ryan Heise and Gavyn Hurley. Heise leads the team in scoring with 13.8 points on 53.6% from the field and 41.7% from three. Hurley is scoring 12.8 points on shooting splits of 58.8% from the field and 40% from downtown. He leads the team in rebounding with 6.0 per game.
Head Coach Todd Eisner enters his 11th season with Winona State in the 2025-26 season. Eisner holds a 159-123 record during his tenure and has exceeded 15+ wins in seven of his nine full seasons.
Winona State will take on Minnesota State on Thursday before facing the Huskies on Saturday.
