ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 11/10 St. Cloud State Women's Hockey (15-11-6, 10-11-5 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) wraps up regular season play on the road against No. 2 Ohio State (23-6-3, 17-6-3 WCHA) this weekend. Puck drop is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT on Friday and 2 p.m. CT on Saturday from the OSU Ice Rink in Columbus, Ohio.

SERIES HISTORY
SCSU trails the all-time series against the Buckeyes, 32-61-12 including a 1-8-1 mark in the team's last 10 matchups. The Huskies are 15-27-8 when playing Ohio State in Columbus.
The then-No. 11/10 Huskies picked up their first loss and tie of the season during its debut home conference series against No. 2 Ohio State.
Senior defender Grace Wolfe (Owatonna, Minn.) scored the Huskies lone goal and her first of the season in the 5-1 series opening loss. She also blocked a game-high four shots. Fifth year goaltender Sanni Ahola (Helsinki, Finland) recorded a then-season high 42 saves.
The Huskies earned a hard-fought two conference points during the series finale 3-3 tie (shootout win) to close out the series against the Buckeyes. Senior defender Dayle Ross (Spirit River, Alberta) scored the game-tying goal, forcing overtime. She was the lone Husky with multiple points.
Fifth year forwards Brieja Parent (Forest Lake, Minn.) and Abby Promersberger (Fargo, N.D.) each scored a goal and skated to a +1 mark. Parent led the team with eight faceoff wins and was named the game's second star. Promersberger's goal was her first in a Huskies sweater. Sophomore forward Sofianna Sundelin (Ulvila, Finland) was named the first star after scoring the game-deciding penalty shot. She was second on the team with seven faceoff wins. Freshman goaltender Emilia Kyrkkö (Nokia, Finland) conceded the first goals of her collegiate career, but made a career-high 45 saves and stopped all three shots during the shootout.

The Huskies are ranked No. 11 in the USCHO Poll and No. 10 in the USA Hockey/The Rink Live Poll. St. Cloud State is one of five WCHA programs featured in the rankings. Ohio State enters the series ranked No. 2 in both polls.
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the then-No. 11 Huskies went 1-1-0 against No. 3 Minnesota. SCSU made history in the series opener at Ridder Arena after beating the Gophers, 4-3, marking the first ever road win against the "U" in 63 total games in Minneapolis. SCSU dropped the series finale, 2-1, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center on Senior Day.
The win also made history for head coach Brian Idalski, who became just the second coach in program history to amass 50 wins and the first to do so in three seasons or less. He also became the first coach in program history to beat Minnesota on the road and is just the second coach to post three consecutive 15+ win seasons.
Five Huskies notched 2+ points in the series and fifth year forward Emma Gentry (Alpena, Mich.) and sophomore forward Sofianna Sundelin (Ulvila, Finland) were the lone Huskies to net multiple goals. Fifth year goaltender Sanni Ahola (Helsinki, Finland) and freshman goaltender Emilia Kyrkkö (Nokia, Finland) each made 33+ saves in their respective starts. Ahola allowed just one even-strength goal while Kyrkkö only allowed two even strength goals against the high-powered Gopher offense.

Fifth year goaltender Sanni Ahola (Helsinki, Finland) earned her 35th career win on Jan. 31 becoming the program's all-time leader in goaltender wins, passing Laura Gieselman (1999-2003). Ahola also owns career ranks of No. 1 in shutouts (10), No. 3 in goals against average (2.59), No. 4 in save percentage (.918) and No. 5 in saves (2,284).
RECORD BOOK WATCH
Fifth year forward Emma Gentry (Alpena, Mich.) is in sole posession of fourth all-time on the career games played list (148). She is is 22 shots away from becoming the programs all-time leader and one point away from joining the career points top-10 list.
Head coach Brian Idalski won the 50th game of his SCSU tenure last weekend.
WCHA WEEKLY HONORS
Sophomore forward Sofianna Sundelin (Ulvila, Finland) was the named Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Forward of the Week, as announced by the league office on Feb. 3, following her four-point performance in St. Cloud State's home-and-home split against (RV) St. Thomas. It was her first weekly award of the season and the second of her career (Rookie of the Week – Sept. 25, 2023).
The sophomore forward tied for the lead in goals (three), points (four), goals/game (1.50) and points/game (2.00) and was sixth in both faceoff wins (22) and faceoff wins/game (11.00) among WCHA skaters. She posted one of five 3+ point performances and was one of three players to have a 2+ goal, three-point game. Sundelin recorded one of four 15+ faceoff win games in the WCHA.
In the series opening 5-2 home win over (RV) St. Thomas, she tallied three points (two goals and one assist). It was her first career three-point game and first career multi-goal game. She is just the second Husky to score two goals in a game this season. In the series finale overtime loss, Sundelin scored the Huskies lone goal and her third of the weekend while winning a team-high 15 faceoffs. With the goal, she took sole possession of the team lead for goals with eight.
St. Cloud State has won each of the WCHA weekly awards at least once this season and Sundelin is the second to be named Forward of the Week. Freshman goaltender Emilia Kyrkkö (Nokia, Finland) was named the Goaltender of the Week twice (Oct. 7 & Oct. 28) and the Rookie of the Week once (Oct. 21), while fifth year forward Emma Gentry (Alpena, Mich.) and senior defender Ella Anick (Hermantown, Minn.) were named the conference Forward and Defender of the Week respectively on Sept. 23 after SCSU's season-opening sweep of Lindenwood.
It was the second time Anick had been named WCHA Defender of the Week in her career, both coming while playing for SCSU. It was Gentry's third career time being named the WCHA Forward of the Week.
