In Session I of the Tournament, St. Cloud State would send four wrestlers to the Quarterfinal round. 149-pound Colby Njos produced the first win of the day for SCSU as he advanced with a 5-2 decision victory over Jake Piccirilli of UNC Pembroke. Defending 157-pound National Champion Nick Novak moved into the Quarterfinals with ease as he produced a 14-5 major decision victory. 165-pound Anthony Herrera battled back-and-forth with Brandon Connor of Millersville, but a clutch takedown gave Herrera a 9-6 sudden victory. 197-pound Dominic Murphy was the final Husky to advance to the Quarterfinals as a 17-5 major decision victory propelled him to the next round. 125-pound Conor Knopick, 133-pound Caleb Meekins, 174-pound Cole Glazier, and 184-pound Bryce FitzPatrick all lost their opening matches and were sent to the wrestle backs. After their opening round losses, Glazier and FitzPatrick had to wrestle in a preliminary round to advance to Session II. Both wrestlers took care of business as Glazier had a 12-1 major decision victory and Fitzpatrick won by fall at the 2:50 mark.
Moving into Session II, Knopick and Meekins were both able to advance past Round 1 of the Consolation Bracket as Knopick won 2-1 in a nail bitter and Meekins produced a major decision victory. Neither wrestler, however, were unable to advance further as they were both eliminated in Round 2 of the Consolation Bracket. In the Quarterfinal round, Njos and Herrera were defeated by decision and sent to the wrestle backs. Novak jumped on Bailey Gimbor early with a quick takedown and never looked back. The defending champion would go on to win 5-2 and advance to the Semifinals. The first period of the Quarterfinals for Murphy was tightly contested as he nor Tereus Henry were able to earn a point. In period two, Henry earned an escape point to take a 1-0 lead. Murphy would quickly turn the tables on Henry as a quick counter by the senior gave him an opportunity for a fall victory. Murphy would jump on the opportunity to capture a takedown and then worked his way to the fall and defeated Henry at the 4:17 mark. Glazier and FitzPatrick continued their momentum from the preliminaries to advance into Round 2 of the Consolation Bracket. Glazier picked up an 8-5 decision victory while Fitzpatrick produced another fall victory. In Round 2 of the Consolation Bracket of Njos' match, the first period would end tied up at zero. Cael Larson of Augustana choose the top position and ride Njos for the entirety of the period. Moving into the third period, Njos choose the down position, but this time around would come up with an escape to take a 1-0 lead. The two would battle back-and-forth, but late in the period, Njos came up clutch with a takedown that ultimately secured him the match as he advanced with a 4-0 victory. In Consolation Round 2 for Herrera, he would battle against Chase Bloomquist. Each wrestler would earn an escape point as the match would head into overtime, and then into the tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker period, Herrera would come up with a huge takedown to capture a 4-1 victory and advance in the tournament. In a do or die situation for Glazier and FitzPatrick, both wrestlers would stay hot with major decision victories of 11-2 and 17-5 respectively as they each advanced.
After their victories in the Quarterfinals and Round 2 of the Consolation Bracket, Colby Njos, Nick Novak, Anthony Herrera, Cole Glazier, Bryce FitzPatrick, and Dominic Murphy  would earn All-American Honors, securing a placement in the tournament. This would be the third time that Herrera has been awarded All-American, the second for Njos, Novak, and Murphy, and the first time for Glazier and FitzPatrick.
Moving into the second day of the event, Njos captured a 6-2 decision victory against Dean Noble of Western Colorado University to advance to Round 3 of the Consolation Bracket. The junior would escape that reversal, but then would be taken down again as Johnson led 8-2 after the second period. Choosing the down position to start the third period, Novak came up with a reversal of his own to set the score at 8-4. Johnson earned an escape point as he expanded his lead to 9-4. Novak escaped that takedown and would go into the second period down 3-1. The second period started with Johnson choosing the bottom position. Novak would negate some of Johnson's riding time, but Johnson would turn the tables on Novak with a reversal to take a 5-1 lead. The junior would escape that reversal, but then would be taken down again as Johnson led 8-2 after the second period. Choosing the down position to start the third period, Novak came up with a reversal of his own to set the score at 8-4. Johnson earned an escape point as he expanded his lead to 9-4. Novak showed no quit as he continued to battle and took Johnson down again, setting the score at 9-7.
