LaPlant Named NSIC Setter of the Week

Sophomore setter earns first weekly conference award after leading NSIC in assists/set
BURNSVILLE, Minn. – St. Cloud State Volleyball sophomore setter Braya LaPlant (Grand Rapids, Minn.) was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Setter of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. It is LaPlant's first career weekly honor, and she is the first Husky to be recognized this season.
The Grand Rapids, Minnesota native led the NSIC in assists/set (12.20) while contributing 2.50 digs/set. She guided the Huskies offense to a league-leading 15.30 kills per set and the .302 team hitting percentage was second best in the league last week.
SCSU went 3-0 on the week (all road matches), taking down (RV) Minnesota State in four sets on Tuesday before sweeping Jamestown and No. 18 Northern State on Friday and Saturday.
As of September 28, LaPlant ranks No. 12 in assists/set (10.85) and No. 30 in assists (973) among all Division II players. Among NSIC players, she ranks sixth in assists/set and seventh in total assists.
The Huskies return home this weekend for a pair of NSIC matches. SCSU welcomes Southwest Minnesota State to St. Cloud on Friday (6 p.m. first serve) and Sioux Falls on Saturday (2 p.m. first serve). Links to each coverage option can be found on the St. Cloud State Volleyball schedule page.
