Strickland makes six saves to record 21st shutout

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (1-1-1, 0-0-0 NSIC) and Minnesota Duluth (1-1-1, 0-0-0 NSIC) played to a 0-0 tie on Saturday afternoon at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud. Senior Jaylee Strickland (Columbus, Ohio) stopped all six shots on goal to record the shutout for the Huskies.

TURNING POINT

After an evenly played match, the Huskies had maybe their best scoring chance in the game's final minute. The set piece came on a corner kick, with junior midfielder Darby Allen (Minnetonka, Minn.) taking the corner, as her pass ricocheted off numerous athletes before finding the foot of senior midfielder Cady Compton (Ankeny, Iowa), who took a shot from 20 feet out that was saved by the Bulldog goalkeeper.

TOP HUSKIES

Strickland made six saves and recorded her first shutout of the season in her first start in net.
Junior forward Gabby Hofeld (St. Paul, Minn.) had two shots on goal, while Compton had one.

NOTES

With the draw, SCSU is now 16-19-9 all-time against Minnesota Duluth.
The Huskies 10-game winning streak comes to an end, but their unbeaten streak extends to 11 dating back to Sept. 9, 2018.
Strickland made six saves and recorded her 21^st career shutout, extending her program record for a Husky goalkeeper.
Prior to the match, SCSU honored six Huskies, senior midfielder Kayla Allen (Holmen, Wis.), Compton, senior forward Sydney Johnson (White Bear Lake, Minn.), senior forward Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.), senior goalkeeper Avery Weaver (McFarland, Wis.) and senior forward Gabby Zugel (Plainwell, Mich.) for Senior Day.
