2011-12: Played in 34 games for the Huskies in her sophomore season ... Recorded one assist, 14 shots, and 17 blocks on the season ... -36 plus/minus ... 6/12 PIM ... Assisted the Huskies first goal to take the lead in their win over Ohio State on Jan. 7 ... Season high of three shots against Minnesota State on Dec. 9 ... WCHA Scholar-Athlete recipient ... 2010-11: Tabbed first career point at Ohio State University on Oct. 16 with an assist … Totaled a career-best three shots on goal against Wayne State on Oct. 8 … Played in 34 games during rookie season.
Before SCSU: Monkman has lettered in hockey, softball and tennis for the Rams. An All-State First Team recipient and team captain, Monkman helped lead her prep squad to the 2008 Minnesota State Hockey Tournament. For her efforts, the defender garnered All-Tournament accolades. Coached by Brian Bergstrom, Monkman describes her greatest sports thrill as hearing the final buzzer sound when the Rams defeated Warroad in the Section Finals in 2008.
Personal: The daughter of Stacey and Linda Monkman, Amanda has charted five varsity letters in tennis and three varsity letters in softball. A three-time team Most Valuable Player in tennis, Monkman has also tallied Academic All-State honors as a team captain. In softball she has accumulated three Defensive Player of the Year honors as well as All-Conference nods twice during her tenure with the Rams. Lists her father as the greatest influence in her career. A Presidential Academic Award winner, Monkman is majoring in accounting at SCSU.
