HOME OPENER: The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (0-2-0, 0-0-0 WCHA) will open its 2012-13 home season on Oct. 19-20 with a pair of games against non-conference rival Alabama Huntsville (0-1-1). The games will be played at the National Hockey and Event Center (200x100/5,371 cap.) in St. Cloud, Minn.
LISTEN LIVE: Fans can listen to the games live on KNSI FM 103.3 or AM 1450. Don Lyons, the voice of Husky Hockey, and Dave Reichel will be making the call live from the NHEC this weekend. You can also listen online at www.knsiradio.com
WATCH LIVE: The SCSU-UAH games on Oct. 19-20 will be televised live on Charter Cable channel 87 in the St. Cloud area. The Husky Production telecasts will also be replayed on Mondays and Tuesdays at 7 p.m. after each home series on UTVS (Charter Cable channel 21 in the St. Cloud area).

HUSKIES BY THE NUMBERS:
1988 The first time SCSU and UAH played was on Feb. 6, 1988. The Huskies picked up a 2-1 win that season in St. Cloud in a game played at the MAC. The Huskies have since gone on to gain a 7-0-0 series edge over the Chargers. The last time these two teams played was a 3-0, 7-2 series sweep by the Huskies at the NHEC on Feb. 1-2, 2002.
98 Senior captain Drew LeBlanc enters action this weekend with 98 career points. He needs just two more points to enter the Huskies' 100-point club. A total of 22 SCSU players have reached the 100-point club (all games played at the DI level) since the Huskies moved to the DI level in 1987-88. The last person to reach the 100-point plateau was Garrett Roe, who scored 178 points from 2007-11.
1 SCSU senior Ben Hanowski scored his first shorthanded goal as a college player on Oct. 12 at New Hampshire. Hanowski serves as a team captain this season and currently has 46 goals during his career with the Huskies. Of note, Hanowski also has 83 points during his four season here at St. Cloud State University.

LAST WEEK/THIS WEEK: The St. Cloud State men's hockey opened its 2012-13 season with a weekend trip to New Hampshire on Oct. 12-13...in the season opener, the Huskies lost a tough 5-3 decision and then followed with a 4-2 loss against the Wildcats on Saturday evening in Durham, N.H...the Huskies will continue their 2012-13 season with their home openers on Oct. 19-20 at the National Hockey and Event Center against non-conference rival Alabama Huntsville...the Huskies currently own a 7-0-0 series lead against UAH...the last time SCSU and UAH skated against other was on Feb. 1-2, 2002 and the Huskies charted a 7-2, 3-0 series sweep at the NHEC...the series started back on Feb. 6, 1988, with a 2-1 win by SCSU in St. Cloud...in games played at UAH, the Huskies own a 3-0 edge.
DOWN SOUTH: SCSU junior forward Nic Dowd is a resident of Huntsville, Ala. He is also the Huskies' scoring leader in 2012-13 with three assists to his credit in two games played. Dowd is the first resident of Alabama to play college hockey at SCSU during the Huskies' Division I era.
FIRST TIMERS: Freshman forward Jimmy Murray, a resident of Darien, Ill., charted his first two collegiate points with a pair of helpers in the Huskies' 4-2 loss at UNH...redshirt freshman David Morley made an immediate impact in his first collegiate game on Oct. 12 with an assist for the Huskies...sophomore blue liner Tim Daly added his first college goal with a marker at UNH on Oct. 12.
TWO STARTS: Sophomore netminder Ryan Faragher gained the start in both games at UNH. In 2011-12, Faragher played in 24 games as a rookie and posted a solid 2.78 GAA and a .915 save rate. He led the Huskies with 685 saves in 2011-12, and shared Goalie of the Year honors along with Mike Lee, who left early after signing a pro contract with Phoenix. Over the summer, Faragher attended the Pittsburgh Penguins' prospect camp. In the two games at UNH, Faragher charted a total of 59 saves.
BLUELINE POWER: The SCSU defensive corps in 2012-13 will be solid. The Huskies return 7 veterans to the blueline including All-WCHA award winner Nick Jensen and All-WCHA Rookie Team selection Andrew Prochno. The power packed defensive unit accounted for three goals and two assists in the games at UNH on Oct. 12-13. Last year, Jensen was third on the squad with 32 points and Prochno was the fourth leading pointman with 29 in 2011-12.
HUSKY TIDBITS: Junior defender Kevin Gravel enjoyed a two-point night on Oct. 13 with his first goal and assist of the 2012-13 season...all SCSU home games in 2012-13 will be televised on Charter Cable channel 87. The telecast is provided once again this year by SCSU's Husky Productions, which provides a unique hands-on learning experience for students in the mass communications department at St. Cloud State University...Huskies to score their first goals of 2012-13 at UNH include Andrew Prochno, Ben Hanowski, Tim Daly, Kevin Gravel and Joey Holka.
