Soccer Drops Game at Minot State, 3-1

Minot, N.D. - The St. Cloud State University women's soccer team was on the road Sunday taking on the Minot State Beavers to round out their weekend road series. Minot State's early lead proved too much as the Huskies fell, 3-1.
Scoring did not come until late in the game as the defenses for both teams were strong. Minot State went up 2-0 on the Huskies, scoring at 33:35 and at 39:11. The Beavers' Taylor Franco and Zoe Fisher were credited with the goals.
The Huskies came out in the second half closing the gap at 51:41 as sophomore Michelle Cornell shot from about 15 yards out beating the goalie high and into the right side of the net. Cornell was unassisted on the goal.
Minot iced the win scoring at the 74:51 mark to make it a 3-1 game on a goal by Jayden Montejano.
In the second half shots were even at five but the Beavers outshot the Huskies 20 to 14 in the game.
Leading the Huskies in shots against the Beavers was sophomore Faith Bila with four shots including one on goal. Michelle Cornell and Taige Thoreson both followed her with three shots each.
Brittany Plombon recorded nine saves in goal for St. Cloud Sunday, while Minot's Jimi Guibor tallied five for the win.
St. Cloud State (6-5-1, 3-5-1 NSIC) will be back in action October 18 & 20 as they continue their road stint taking on Minnesota State Friday and Concordia-St. Paul Sunday. Game times are set for 3 p.m. and 1 p.m. respectively.
