SCSU Soccer Goes on the Road Again

St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud State women's soccer teams is on the road again this week as they travel to Minnesota State Friday and Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday. Game times are slated for 3 p.m. and 1 p.m. respectively.
St. Cloud State will be back in the comforts of Husky Stadium October 26-27 as they play host to Northern State University Saturday and Minnesota State University Moorhead Sunday. Game times are set for 1 p.m. both days.
- The Huskies come into this weekend's games holding a 6-5-1 overall record and a 3-5-1 record in the NSIC. St. Cloud is ranked 9th in the conference standings.
- Minnesota State is currently undefeated in the NSIC with a 9-0 record, good for first place in the conference. Overall the Mavericks are 11-1 on the season. MSU leads the all-time series against St. Cloud with a 20-6-1 record since their first meeting in 1995.
- The last meeting between the teams came in 2012 on Oct. 14 in St. Cloud where the Mavericks defeated the Huskies 1-0.
- The Mavericks are on an eight game win streak with their last two games against Wayne State and Augustana. MSU rolled over Wayne State by a final score of 7-0 and defeated Augie 3-2 in double overtime.
- Concordia-St. Paul comes into the weekend with a 4-8 overall record and a 3-6 record in the NSIC. The Huskies lead the all-time series against the Golden Bears with a 9-2-1 record.
- Last season SCSU met CSP in St. Cloud on Oct 12 where the Huskies defeated the Golden Bears 2-1.
- The Golden Bears currently have a one game win streak going as they defeated Wayne State 2-1 on the road last weekend. CSP also played at Augustana last weekend falling 3-1.
- The St. Cloud State women's soccer team kicked off their four game road stint with two games last weekend traveling to the University of Mary and Minot State. The Huskies started the weekend off defeating the Marauders 3-2 in double overtime on Saturday but fell to Minot State on Sunday, 3-1.
- The Huskies were behind early against U-Mary as they went up 1-0 just 1:22 into the game but St. Cloud made it on the board at the 58:45 mark on a header by sophomore Michelle Cornell into the top right corner of the net for the 1-1 tie. Cornell's header came off a corner kick by sophomore Faith Bila and was her first goal of the season.
- U-Mary regained the lead at 61:20 for a 2-1 match but did not hold it for long as SCSU's freshman Naomi Kolhoff showed up big for the Huskies tying the game up 2-2 at 79:13. Kolhoff shot right in front of the net off an initial shot by junior Kara Espinosa that was blocked.
- A 2-2 tie lasted until just seconds in the second overtime. The Huskies brought the ball down the field on the counter attack with Kolhoff shooting from 17 yards out on the left hash mark putting the game away just 59 seconds into the second overtime. Senior Kara Dahmen recorded the assist.
- St. Cloud State finished their weekend tour of North Dakota at Minot State where they fell by a final score of 3-1.
- Sophomore Brittany Plombon recorded 11 saves for the Huskies in goal this weekend and with the split moves her record to 6-5-1 on the season.
- Leading the way for the Huskies so far this season is senior Kara Dahmen as she has recorded a total nine points including two goals and five assists. Dahmen has been dominate for St. Cloud on corner kicks this season and leads the team in shots with 25.
